Washington DC 48-Hour Film Festival
« on: March 28, 2009, 11:11:03 PM »
I'm organizing a team to participate in the 2009 48-Hour Film Festival. I've been wanting to try this for a few years now, and I figure if I tell everyone I'm going to do it, the fear of embarrassment will be enough of a motivating factor to see me through.  I plan to co-write and direct something in the general area of comedy, though what that is won't be decided until that weekend, as per the spirit of the contest.

This is no-budget, but it will be shot with some serious high-end gear thanks to my day-job and the generosity of my boss, who ranks just below Tom on the list of Greatest People Alive.  If anyone here is willing/able to spend 48 insane hours to help make this happen, please contact me here or at daviddccamera@gmail.com.

If anyone is actually interested enough to travel here to help out, I could secure you couches, meals, rides to Union Station, and maybe a tiny help with travel expenses, though that last thing should be considered an empty gesture.

Production experience is not necessary, but if anyone is or knows a sound recordist or make-up artist who would be willing to volunteer, PLEASE put me in touch with them.  Otherwise, I'd need a couple people to help out with some of the shitty thankless jobs like fetching coffee, charging camera batteries, and acting.

This is my first time "producing" anything that involves more than three people.  It may flame out something fierce, but hopefully it will be a lot of fun.

Let's do this thing!

Or if someone just wants to give me a couple thousand dollars to fly in Martin from Sweden, that'll work, too.

I'd be willing to act or appear in this, if you need someone pale with no experience.  I can bring my homemade Martin beard and wig that I probably shouldn't talk about.

i checked for flights to DC but nothing cheaper than $300 right now.  i'll continue to keep looking, i would LOVE to help.  i cant do much except what im told to do.  i have no film experience other than my own amateur attempts, and none of them involve high tech gear, so im no good to you there.

but i can grab coffee, charge batteries, i know how to drive/walk/run errands, iron, give massages/hugs/listening ear/shoulder to cry on, and my stand-in/girl #1 experience precedes me.
