I side with the mayor. It looks like this "don't snitch" bullshit has turned from media panic into something that's actually going on. How fucking depressing.
That isn't anything new at all.
I commend that guy. When I was a kid, my friends and I got into tons of trouble, but as soon as any adult showed up and threatened to call the cops, we'd wise up eventually. Sure, we'd give back a healthy dose of sass and verbal abuse, but what kid wouldn't? And we'd definitely never snitch and always give fake names if asked.
Kids will be kids, but adults shouldn't be afraid to confront them. It takes a village, and so forth. He didn't lay hands on them, which is good. He used some insults to get their attention. To that I say "go with what works." Those kids look like trouble-makers of the highest order, and had probably proven (in the parts of the video that we didn't get to see) that they did not deserve respect in that situation.
Nate and his friends would never behave like that... if they knew an elected official was present.
