Mightily is a good clue. I thought I heard Tom say the guys from Fucked Up were fans of his, so I thought the E'fed part was the clue. However, they don't seem like someone who one would have to chase for months.

I think Laurie actually mentioned one of them (Pink Eyes maybe) as being a fan during the 6-hour "Night of a Thousand Stars" extravaganza.

OK, so I do want to speculate:

It's Julian and Noel from The Mighty Boosh.

Clues: multiple guests, Tom got "f-ed mightily in the home stretch", Boosh is currently airing on Adult Swim, they will both be in the US for ComiCon soon-ish, plus they'll be on Jimmy Fallon on July 22nd.

Brits can fuck off.
(Doesn't apply to Jason, Robert Popper, or Armando Iannucci)

Or Natalie Imbruglia or Parminder Nagra ... Wait, is Imbruglia Aussie?

It's gotta be Bruno S.  He's been living at the station for the past two weeks, but no one will say why.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I'm pretty certain Martin is correct. There are just too many coincidences...

Their radioshow was awesome.  The tv show, I think, went sour after the first season.
Would have been better if it was Rich Fulcher anyway, if much more incoherent.  Maybe it would have been great to see him and some Wurster character together.

I've been watching the show now on its Adult Swim run and Rich Fulcher really steals the show for me, especially in the first season episodes.

Did I mention that it's Grodin? Doesn't it just seem to fit the whole curmudgeonly character he's cultivated? Can't you imagine him squirming over whether to do it or not? At first he probably thought it would be fun, that "Marty" had done it and by "Marty"'s account it had mostly gone well. Grofin probably half-heartedly indicated that he would PROBABLY do the show?

But then it kept rolling around in his head, and he started to think about where his film career went, and really, the conventional wisdom is that "Clifford" was one of the deepest potholes he fell in? Still, maybe it would be fun to go on the show, and tell a few stories, and make fun of the movie?

And then he listened to a few minutes of the archive with "Marty", and this host wasn't making fun of the movie, in fact, he found it hilarious? In fact, had purchased expensive wardrobe from the movie? And then that wheezy guy called and started trying to use "Marty" as his own personal IMDB? And then more people called with equally graceless questions? And Grodin started sweating.

And he pulled out.

I actually pray it's way off, because maybe a Grodin appearance would then be possible, and Grodin on any form of talk show is some of the most amazing entertainment I have ever experienced. But if it's correct, SCREW Grodin. He had a chance to connect with the side of comedy that's actually funny, to be hip by association with G-POT and his horde of comedy professional supporters, and his neurosis threw it overboard. HEAVE ho.

But really, it would be great.

Dave, I totally agree w/how great he is on talk shows, which is kind of why I think it's probably not Grodin - he loves to go on & do that persona, I think, and I bet he'd be honored to have someone be so interested in his movies. Also, I looked him up on IMDB since I wasn't sure what he's been up to (which isn't much since Clifford, incidentally), and someone mentioned seeing him @ some event and asking for an interview sometime in the future. He agreed to it and the person reported back a month later to say he'd done the interview and Grodin was great.

The reason I think the Boosh might be a possibility, not just because of the clues, is that they're scheduled to go on Jimmy Fallon when they come here. You know how talk shows get about guest exclusivity- if a guest comes on one show, that show doesn't want them to appear on another show the next day so that the impact isn't diluted. It's that show biz dicksizing crapola.

I think Armando Iannucci is coming over here soon to promote In the Loop but that seems less likely than le Boosh.
