arguably my favorite band since... 1994?  i was lucky enough to see them a few times, but i don't think they were the end-all, be-all live band.  some nice moments, some good early bootlegs here and there, but i'd argue their best moments were on the cds.

or records, if you will.

anyway, i'm not getting worked up about the reunion, be it a one-off or otherwise.

Anybody remember the 1993-1996 Pavement fan site, "My Heart is Made of Gravy"? That was my site!

I used to look at that "My Heart is Made of Gravy" website all the time.

Good times.

Good on ya.

What are the chances they don't play a single song from Terror Twilight.

Hey, cool! I had forgotten all about it until I heard Mike's interview with Kevin Smith, when they were talking about how web-based message boards were a new thing back in 1995. Once I put the message board up (just a raw comment box really) it only took about a month before it became a tight little high school social scene and I had no idea what anyone was talking about.  I sorta lost interest in the site after Wowee Zowee came out (lazy stoner music!). When I quit the company I was working for the site died 'cos I forgot they were hosting it. I felt really bad I let the folks on the chat down.  Dear internet: I'm sorry. I'm sorry I let you down.

Back in time, I was also a Pavement superfan.  Howso, you ask?  Sure, they were my favorite band.  Of course, they were a seminal moment in my cultural/aesthetic development... but it went way beyond...

For one, I was involved with the creation of the first Pavement (email) mailing list.  (This was in the beginning of 1994.)  For those who may remember, this was the one out of Australia that is now offline but is still linked via the Matador Pavement page.

I also wrote my first ever fan letter to the address listed in the liner notes of Slanted&Enchanted (and received a reply!  Anyone else do this?  Care to guess who wrote back?).

I was on that list! I remember there were a fair number of kiwis and aussies on there.
