Gambling is probably more costly, so I'll go with huffing. Who doesn't want to feel like they're walking on sunshine once in a while?

Go with sparkly paint!

Sounds like you speak from experience Auntie,  AmIRight?

Mike, I like art that severely depresses.  Jimmy Corrigan (or anything that Chris Ware does) and Dogville are among my favorites.  What would you recommend in any format?  Especially, where should I begin with Mr. Herzog?

Herzog's best movies are drunk on both the wonders and horror of life.  They're a blast, they're not depressing.

Seconded, Little Dieter basically trumps any piece o' crap you would find in a self improvement section of a bookstore.

You'll like it in hell; it's a lot like New Jersey.

That is amazing. They need to add a section to the FAQ to answer my Q "This is a joke, right?!"

Mike,

There is a barfly that I am trying to get temporarily banned from my place of work for (among other offenses that include being a loudmouth vagrant, groping waitresses, and ruining my appreciation of Hunky Dory) forcing a weak-willed, enabling bartender to subject staff and unsuspecting customers to his raspy, dog-deafening sing-alongs to over-loud Manic Street Preachers MP3s every fucking Saturday afternoon (bartender: "I can't throw him out... he's a paying customer!" ugh...). I might be able to arrange a Mike Show interview with this guy to get you some back story on the Manics ("TIM!!! THE MANICS!!! LISTEN TO THIS ONE!!! YA-TA-TA-TA-TAAA!!! IT'S FUCKIN' GENIUS!!!") but it would no doubt push the Mike Show over that "end badly" cliff that Tom warned us about.

DM me. (Actually, please don't.)

Tim

I went to a Manic Street Preachers fan convention in Cardiff ten years ago (wait! come back!) so I, too, can take any of your questions, Mr _Buster.

Keith: I'm not familiar with Cicero or Maron. Will investigate. Sartre: a little too serious for me.

Pastor Josh: I agree with Chris L. I don't find Herzog depressing at all. In fact, I admire his ability to address all aspects of human behavior, the good and the horrible. Aguirre, Stroszek, Kaspar Hauser, and Little Dieter are my favorite Herzog movies.

Tim K: Since my uncle owns a bar, I think I can help you. What you have to do is be firm with the drunk. Let him know when his behavior is unacceptable. Kick him out if necessary (tell the enabling bartender in advance that this is what you're going to do the next time the drunk acts up). As you're kicking him out, let him know that you're not banning him, but will do so if he doesn't change his behavior in the future. If that doesn't happen, cut him loose. Life is too short and he'll find another bar where he can annoy people.
See God, Kai

No wonder you're the preeminent call screener of this generation.

On an unrelated note, your new avatar is disturbing.

I think the Gabe kid from this week's follow-up had some undiagnosed mental health issues.  His reactions to life didn't seem to be appropriate, even in Intervention's crazy little world.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

Thats just what we did. We had this guy at the bar I work at. He would bring is laptop (ok) but he would also bust out an external keyboard (the one in the laptop was busted) and a mouse (same as keyboard). He would leave his big bag in one corner of the room, set up his computer on the bar counter, put his drink on a 3rd table and stand no where near any of those things. He would impose very bad smooth rock from his ipod on the people next to him and engage anyone he could to talk about Hemingway or Melville with. Oh and he was an angry at times and would abuse the Red Bull. Many times he would come in trashed and bring his own booze into the bar. Seriously. When he was normal, he was a decent guy. We banned him for a week here and a month there. After a year of dealing with his behavior becoming more and more childish we just 86ed him for life. I kinda feel bad for him, also for the poor bartender who has to deal with him now.
