Well, I think he's GOTTEN better. Playing for so long with such profoundly weird comics as Will Forte,  Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Andy Samberg seems to have made him more comfortable doing weirder and more complex humor.

Carping about SNL is for pretentious college kids. Either you like it or you don't. I've really enjoyed the show during the post Ferrell period. Lots of loopy weirdos (Wiig, Armisen, Hader, Forte) and no shouting alpha male types. IIRC there was a stretch when Dratch, Poehler, and Rudolph were in a lot of sketches that I liked a lot too.

OK, I forgot that link formed a Hulu embed, and a wrong one at that. Andy From Knoxville should see this video.

If they play their cards right, this might be the worst episode yet this season. The Rear Window sketch might be one of the worst and painfully long SNL sketches I've ever seen.

Forget the premise, how does a Hitchcock impression that lazy make it to air?  This episode gave me a lot to ponder.

It is going to be really really difficult to be worse than the Drew Barrymore episode.

Didn't see much but I actually thought the last skit was verry funny -- when they were looking at clouds.

I always like the Jon Bovi appearances just because Will Forte's facial expression makes me crack up. The skits were terrible though... especially the digital short but those are always awful.

After seeing January Jones on Jimmy Fallon and SNL in one week, I don't know that I'll ever be able to enjoy Mad Men again.

Yeah, she pretty much just comes off like she is stone-cold Betty Draper in real life.

And Bobby Moynihan's Hitchcock impression was pretty much a poor man's Lorne Michaels.

And let's face it, Lorne Michaels is just a poor man's Dr. Evil.

The Today sketch at the top of the show was painfully awkward the way they were trying to cram January Jones into it.  She played the animal handler and had about four lines in the whole thing.  What a dud she is...

Yeah, on SNL she came off like an untalented dullard but on Fallon she came off more like a giggling ditz. Either way, I don't know how they get decent acting out of her on Mad Men.

i don't think they do. she's not particularly good on the show - i think a lot of the "coldness" people talk about in her character is just bad, wooden acting.

I agree. I posted this on the AV Club's comments regarding this SNL and Ms. Jones:

"Also, an article somewhere pointed out that January Jones is a bad actor on Mad Men and ever since then I've realized that her blank expressions work well for the character of Betty Draper but they're not by design, she just doesn't know how to act. So instead of the silent brooding emotions you can see roiling beneath the surface of Jon Hamm, January Jones's face is like a porcelain doll, it serves the story and is pretty to look at, but you can tell there's no thoughts going on behind the facade. But she's the lone weak spot on that acting slate."

I said decent, I don't think she's in the same league as Jon Hamm by a long shot but she doesn't ruin the show. I think that the character is a cold B and she pulls it off because it's easy.
