It seems our boy is thin skinned, didn't like what Stewart had to say last night.

Also, on another matter, it seems like Fox is getting a little squeamish regarding Beck's insanity:

Perhaps he'll put his theory to the definitive test.

Yeah, sounds like he's getting ready to jump in front of a cab under the delusion that he'll become a martyr. I'm all for it!

Why doesn't Media Matters take on all media bias?

Well, that sounds tendentious.  If you're thinking of some example of supposed "liberal" bias in the media (yeah, right) that they should be covering, that isn't part of their brief.  They describe themselves on their website as "a web-based, not-for-profit, progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media."

This can lead to no good. If there WERE a "liberal bias" in the news, half of the W admin would be wearing all orange today.

Must be talking about Democracy Now and Free Speech Radio News.

Tell you what, Alex, if you still believe in that weird chimera dreamt up by William Safire for Spiro Agnew back in the 60s and relentlessly hyped by ref-playing wingnuts ever since, here's a media watchdog you'll be happy with: http://www.mrc.org/public/default.aspx. The Media Research Center really holds the Librul Media's feet to the fire! Right now they have a blistering expose of CBS for calling John Boehner a "hardline conservative"!  How do they get away with such blatant bias???

You spelled liberal as "librul." Clever!

I applaud you, nudist.

The media has neither a liberal nor a conservative bias (the News Corp empire aside), but an elite/corporate bias.  That's how we get nonsense like Bloomberg's centrist billionaires movement as somehow representing "the forgotten middle," when really they represent policies that almost no one likes (though I do think Bloomberg's tenure as mayor has been pretty much a wash -- about as much good as bad).  It's basically the perspective of well-educated people who are deeply mistrustful of the mass of Americans (whether that is represented by union members, low-wage workers, people in "flyover states," or the Christian Right), who are doing very well for themselves, and who don't want to rock the boat.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I think what Shaggy says is about 80% of the story, but that the conservative or at least pro-Republican bias of the American corporate media is real.  It's more apparent in the portion of journalism that forthrightly allows opinionated commentary, as opposed to supposedly disinterested reportage.  Take a look at the proportion of conservative/Republican to liberal/Democratic guests on the Sunday morning news shows sometime.  Or the Op-Ed page of the Washington Post.

Also, what Shaggy says about their Bloomberg worship cuts two ways. Yes, he's more popular with them than with everyone else because he's a billionaire.  But the fact that they can imagine him as speaking for "the forgotten middle" means that they see the present-day Democratic party as way out there on the left.  Think about that for a minute.
