The Worst Show on Television
« on: December 07, 2009, 10:02:15 PM »
For a long time, I watched all the Law & Order franchises.  For many years.  I still watch the original and Criminal Intent.  Starring Jeff Goldblum, heh heh.

Not so Law & Order: SVU.  That is the worst show on television.  Who the hell writes this crap?  I saw 15 minutes of this tonight, and it's even worse than it was a few years ago.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

I have to respectfully disagree with you, buffcoat. I think SVU makes for far more compelling viewing than does Criminal Intent.

Although, neither is a candidate for the title of "worst show on television." That honor belongs to either "Sons of Anarchy" or "Morning Joe."

Mkay. Have to weigh in here:

I like L&O: CI because I like both D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe who is such a smart ass. I don't watch the original, only b/c I don't have cable and it's not on Netflix, otherwise I would. I liked it when Noth came on, even though I think i was in the minority there - he's just such a shit disturber, he makes me laugh no matter what dumb lines he's spewing or what dumb shit he's playing in.

I like L&O SVU (even though it's a bit cartoonish) for a few reasons: Meloni, who is an animal, and also I've seen his business when he was in Oz. (I'm simple, what can I say), and Hargitay, who I have a crush on (also her ridiculous mother) , and (god help me) Ice T, who has never been very interesting before either in rap (his songs are downright dumb) or as an actor. For some reason, I like him in this ensemble. I also like the woman who plays the uptight DA chick, the one married to Bobby Flay? That one. Oh, and also Angie Harmon, or is she in the main L&O?

Come to think of it there are a whole lot of lesbian undertones in SVU, aren't there. Hm.

oh, and you know what else?

Know who I think of whenever I see Leslie Hendrix (the ME in all the shows)?

SARAH!

Not necessarily for looks, or voice, or any of that ... just... personality, attitude.

(Sarah I hope you take that for the compliment I meant it to be - she's one of the best things about that whole franchise).

I have an allergy to very police procedural show I've ever tried to watch. It's all craggy middle-aged guys talking tough and a really either dopey or trite storyline. I cannot understand the appeal  ??? Also, I dislike both law and order.

"Sons of Anarchy"

Idiocy.  "Sons" is one of the very best currently airing shows.  The second season was incredibly strong.

I thought it sounded good when I read about it in Parade Magazine.

I honestly have no idea why, but this is my new favorite thing you've shared, Fredericks. Have you written any letters to Parade Magazine columnist Marilyn vos Savant? If not, would you be willing to do so? I think you could stump her.

Oh Wes, you have no idea how often I consider doing that.

I think you should do it, Fredericks!

To be clear, by "stump her" I mean present her with a puzzle or logic problem that she could not answer. Just...you know, just in case there's a different meaning for "stumping" something in the field of Christmas tree chopping and burning. Don't do that. Write a letter.

My friend writes to her at least once a year and asks, "Why is the smartest woman in the world writing a column for Parade magazine?"

That seems to have stumped her.

Vincent D'Onofrio is a ruiner. Without a doubt he is worst thing in the world.

I was going to ask about that since I've been hearing nothing but praise for it this season and was considering catching up with it.
