Yeah, I'll confess to being a tiny bit underwhelmed by his latest, but with a few caveats.
1. I only saw the Comedy Central edit, so I haven't heard the full set yet.
2. Even if it wasn't his absolute best (I'm siding with "Werewolves" for now, although my "222" arrived today) the guy's still scaling heights most other comedians aren't anywhere near.

Agreed. "Mediocre" Patton > 98% of anyone else at the top of their game.

Stand-up seems like one of those art forms where to be truly great at it, most comics have to be dedicate all of their time to it. Patton put out a good album while doing a million other things. So even if it didn't live up to his other work, it's still impressive.

You really oughtn't base your opinion of MWIS on the Comedy Central edit. I was really disappointed when it aired. I've since bought the DVD/CD combo and it's become one of my favorites. The Rats/July 3rd and Orgy bits are pretty much worth the price of admission alone--neither of which made the CC show.

Oh, Fucksquatch...what secrets do you hide?

What this guy said.

"This kid had craigslist hook-up written all over him."

personally, i've been listening to 222 almost non stop for weeks.  when FKP came out, i did the same, yet somehow i find myself retreating back to the original(s) instead of listening to  Werewolves or My Will.  likely, i will listen to those moreso in the years to come as newer albums are released.

i love the EPs and i love both original CDs, especially since most other comedians drunk, let alone sober, don't fair well.  in his case, it plays to his advantage.

Hilarious.

I didn't even know those bits weren't on the special. Knowing that, I will also chime in and say that if you haven't seen/heard the unexpurgated version, you haven't been exposed to the two most brilliant moments on that album.

Of course, nothing beats seeing Patton live. I got to see him twice in Atlanta, but down in Tampa/Sarasota, I don't know if I'll be so lucky again.
