CD/download, that way you get to hear Henry's mellifluous voice.

I vote for CD because it's a pretty compelling listen.  Although with the book you get to see lots of groovy pictures.

I love this book even though it made me realize that I'm kind of a pussy.  Hank lived in a toolshed at one point.  A toolshed!

Well, you know what that makes him.

DISCLAIMER: I still endorse "Do It" and the doing-it message it imparts in those who listen to it.

A guy that couldn't afford a decent place to live?

I'm going to go with the book, only because it's more expansive and has a shit ton of Pettibon posters in it. And, I think I heard it on the Nardwuar interview with Rollins, the tool shed, while being the size of a tool shed, was Pa Ginn's old work studio, so it was probably a little nicer than your run of the mill toolshed.

As a young middle school Rollins mark, I gobbled up the book and book on cassette upon release.

I may not be remembering correctly, but I think there were some good anecdotes in the book on tape not included in the book. I also recall a funny Captain Sensible impression.

Put me down for "the book," because of the aforementioned Pettibon posters, and also a metric ton of pretty great photos.

This thread annoys me, only because it reminds me how I sold my first-edition hardcover copy of this for what was probably far too little money when I first discovered the Amazon Marketplace back in 1999 or something...

Ha - exactly ... plus, in the new edition I think there's an intro where he says what an angry young man he was, and he apologizes to Kira for ripping on her in the first edition. So it kinda takes away from the Angry punk dude persona he's putting out there.

But yeah, print version gets you Pettibon.
Remember how he couldn't stop his leg?

Rollins' whole career path is interesting in the sense that he's seemed to slowly mellow out over the years.  In the Black Flag days he'd punch someone in the face.  Now he'd probably do a skit on his IFC show.  Actually, that's not on anymore is it?

I gotta go on record as saying that I loved his work with Mother Superior.

Wish Kira would write an "answer" book and make fun of him for riding in the back of the equipment truck.

just terrible and therefore it made me feel a lot better about my place in life
but he came out on top...kinda

I read this a few years ago... what I remember is that I thought the Mrs. Ginn character was underdeveloped.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!
