I liked Planet Terror. Death Proof was awful but I thought Planet Terror was a lot of fun. So I'm only making a half-hearted apology.

I must have missed this.  Did Tom come out against Lasagna Cat?

I thought it was one of the funniest things I've seen in months.

I loved all of Grindhouse and I'm hopeful the DVD of the whole thing comes out.

But I also think of Vanishing Point as a killer action film.

I think Brooklyn-based band the Liars are pretty awesome. Great, even.

In Death Proof, I appreciated Kurt Russell's managing to create another indelible character, and the exciting delightfully non-CGI car chase the ends the movie.  It's a good movie if you're really liberal with the FFWD button.  Because yeah, the lengthy dialogue is draining and annoying, as is QT's continuing need to get in front of the camera despite the world's protests.

I like Blazing Saddles.  The friendship between Cleavon Little and Gene Wilder is sweet and funny, a warm center that Mel Brooks lost track of in his later gagfests.  Remember Wilder's wise counsel after the new sheriff is sitting dejected after the townspeople's rude reception:  "You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers, these are people of the land, the common clay of the new west. You know--morons."  And Howard Johnson was right about Olsen Johnson being right.

I live in a certain section of Brooklyn.

Maybe this should go in the embarrassing confessions thread.

I will never apologize for Blazing Saddles. It's one of my favorites.

Tom used to play the Liars all the time. Especially the 2nd (and 3rd?) albums.  This new one I heard a track from the other day.  Eww boy.

Also, back on topic, I hate Patti Smith.

I hate Patti Smith too. And the Replacements.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

No. Now, the Jesus and Mary Chain... That's something else. There's no need to apologize for the Jesus and Mary Chain ever.
