Anybody else torn on Jesus Lizard?

Pretty acceptable to feel torn about them.  They were that sort of band.  Admittedly, their recorded material didn't always grab me.  They were best appreciated live, in a small room, and preferrably with a few beers in your system.

I think Brooklyn-based band the Liars are pretty awesome. Great, even.

I like the band, but I hate them for basically co-opting the word sound more justifiably associated with the Lyres. It's probably top on the list of things that make Jeff Connolly go bat-shit. Whenever I read "The Liars" in a concert report, I always say something to the effect of "the fake Liars, the lying Liars, not to be confused with the real Lyres from Boston."

For a 3D character modeling class, I came up with "Scoots Pickleston", who is pretty much the same as Billy Crystal's "Jazzman" character.

I'm sorry: I love the "old black man" archetype!

really though, I was just trying to come up with something that wasn't a robot or Elf-Warrior or pokemon like everyone else in the class.

There's no doubt in my mind that The Jesus Lizard was the best band of the 90s.

Lasagna Cat is really, really funny.  It's the fact that the video remixes depend entirely on material from the strip remake they do.

I liked Juno a lot. I don't know if it's Oscar worthy, but it was good.

I like Entertainment Weekly's book reviews.  It's not all Alan Dean Foster novelizations. I found out about Jhumpa Lahiri from there.

I also take about 30 minutes to read EW, way more than Tom's average time.  32 minutes if it's the Fall Movie Preview issue.
