This right here is a fine, fine thread. Carry on.  :D

My lady friend loves guys in shorts, a thing I didn't know a lot of girls like so much.

My mother liked Tom Selleck for his legs (they reminded her of my tennis-playing father's).  I, on the other hand, used to embarrass a fellow of mine by complimenting him on his dainty ankles whenever he wore shorts.

Selleck is just a big, strapping dude all around, ain't he?
Remember how he couldn't stop his leg?

Yeah, but it was his legs that made my mother swoon.  It was cute.

I appreciate the thoughts on summer attire. Thanks, everyone.

I've seen shirts in catalogs that are listed as "travel shirts," and they sound like what you're looking for, yesno.

I have also been confused by what left/right means in relation to belts. I consulted Amy Vanderbilt's book of etiquette this morning in the hope of some definitive ruling on the subject, but she does not mention it. She has lots to say about formal wear, though.

Then obviously you need to start wearing a tux to work.

Sarah's earlier post seems to indicate that the belt buckle should start on the right hand side, and as this is the way that I go, it must be right.

The idea of wearing shorts to work is completely foreign to me. I don't even like thinking about it. I may petition to have this thread locked.
This may be the year I will disappear.

I'm opposed to it on principle too, but the recent heatwave melted my principles.

Skirts are even cooler.  Even better would be a loose shift.  Be a trendsetter!

you can always take a pic of your outfit & post it to http://www.fashism.com/

they'll tell you if it "works" or not

Finally, doesn't Dickies make shirts as well?

This is a halfway solution to yesno's quandary, but I suspect he would be reluctant to wear an all-Dickies ensemble. What would Fashism say about that?

Well, most Dickies shirts I've seen look more like gas station/Verizon guy shirts.  But I shall delve into their catalog.  That said, those Duluth trading co. shirts seem just about perfect:  hyper-generic and indestructible.

Wow, this is a funny site. I'm a little surprised by the lack of snotty, mean comments.
