Putting Edgar Wright on the list and not Simon Pegg is very odd.

The exclusion of David Sedaris's sister, Amy, is also odd.

I think she's funnier than David.

That's a really tough one to call.

That is tough but I would have to go with Amy.

My favorite little bit of David's is about Amy where they are both riding a crowded NY subway. Amy's stop is one or two before David's. As she is exiting and the doors are closing, she turns and shouts to David who is still on the train, "Hey, David...good luck beating that rape charge!"

I would like to know what Tom un-specifically thinks of upcoming comedians like Kyle Kinane or Hannibal Burress.

And I'm glad that PFT got due recognition.  There was another recent list of "Best Comedians" in which he wasn't cited and that was an injustice.

I noticed Hannibal was on one of those best comedy albums of the year lists, but had never heard of him. I caught him on Letterman Friday, dude is funny.

Yep, or when she had to go to some photoshoot for single hot actresses or something like that, and she went wearing make up that looked like she'd been beat up.

Also, her books. Also, Strangers With Candy.

Sacha Baron Cohen just doesn't make me laugh, I don't care how hard he tries.

The books are both loaded with funny.

Edgar Wright is a genius and his movies are quite funny but somehow putting him in a "funniest people" list feels odd. He is really funny yet not a "funnyman".

Myself, I think she is a very funny person, although the couple of times I tuned into her Comedy Central show I didn't like it at all.

But how can you think someone is not funny when she says this about the movie 300: "They decided to name it after its rating on a gayness scale of one to ten."
"Another thing that interests me about The Eagles is that I hate them." -- Robert Christgau

8  Gervais            eh
I recall Tom's pithy dismissal of the Gervais podcast maybe two or three months ago (I forget how he put it -- "Really? We haven't got the idea already?") and being quite thrilled to hear that coming from an American. I do not mind if you enjoy the things that he does! But from my observations, American reviewers are typically a lot less critical of his work than anyone else.

28 Sedaris         amusing – not funny – amusing
I love his writing, and yet I knew when I heard it, without having seen any of the list, that that would be David Sedaris.

Ricky Gervais was perfect in "The Office" (UK).  But I get the impression that this is what he does in all of his other works. If so, I'm content with owning The Office and leaving it at that... unless someone feels differently?

I've only seen The Office and his various talk show appearances, and the latter are usually pretty bad.

I thought Extras was really great as well.

I like Gervais - I think both of his shows were funny. That stand up thing on HBO was not bad, I liked it okay, but I wasn't crazy about it. I put that down to the weird little differences between American and British stand up, though.

What is good about Gervais:
1.Promoting Karl Pilkington:The Radio Show/Podcast/Audiobooks/An Idiot Abroad
2.Extras
3.The Office

What is bad about Gervais:
1.Animals
2.Science
3.Politics
basically all the stand-up
4.The Invention of Lying
