The amazing thing is that most of these fontasy teams will have more real money than the Mets currently do.

Dave, did you read higher in the thread when necro13 said he could maybe open up a couple slots?  Has this already been done?  You wanna co-manage the Thousand Fights?  You can make all executive decisions. I'll just talk s-hit.

Knoxville is a terrible market for a fantasy baseball team.

I really don't want anybody to step aside, I just like to act like a big baby.

I do wish I had made my zest for Fantasy Baseball clearer on this list at some point in the past, though. http://friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,5216.msg126232.html#msg126232 http://friendsoftom.com/forum/index.php/topic,2021.msg31754.html#msg31754As a couple of you know, I played in a league for over 25 years, but my good friend Brother Bill Hoffman died last January, and our whole thing fell apart. One busier - than - usual day at work, and I blew my only chance.

I do hope you're all firmly committed to the league, though; it will break my heart if 2 or 3 teams are basically inactive in June, their owners having given up after having signed up just because they could, not knowing the tremendous time commitment it was. Even one team not paying attention can drag a league down and ruin it for everyone else. So be committed, young people! Fantasy baseball is a calling!!!

I will just stand over here in the corner, watch, and dream of what could have been.

(Cue violin music.)

I just raised the maximum number of teams to 20.

This means there are now four additional spots available.

You are more than welcome to join, Dave.

Yay! I am in. Just saw the note "You will not be able to hold your draft if your league has an odd number of teams." Hereby volunteer to drop back out (graciously even) if this comes to pass.

Double yay! Are we using 20 categories? I don't care what the rules are, as long as I know what the rules are.

20 categories gives everyone a chance I guess since nobody really knows who's valuable...

My strategy is to win "triples" and "reached base on error".

Here are the categories:

Batting:
Runs, hits, singles, doubles, triples, home runs, RBI, stolen bases, walks, total bases, batting average, OBP, slugging, OPS, extra base hits

Pitching:
Wins, complete games, shutouts, saves, outs, earned runs, walks, strikeouts, batter GIDP, holds, ERA, WHIP, OBP against

29 total categories.

Changes to the scoring settings/stat categories can be made prior to the beginning of league play.

29 total categories.

Changes to the scoring settings/stat categories can be made prior to the beginning of league play.

A few suggestions...

Hitting:

- Total bases overlaps hits, doubles and triples and extra base hits. I'd suggest getting rid of those four categories and keeping total bases. Triples is going to be a category that is consistently won 1-0 or tie at 0-0 week after week. Or keep hits and extra base hits and get rid of doubles, triples and total bases.

- OBP and slugging combine to make OPS. I'd suggest getting rid of those two and keeping OPS.

- Usually in OBP or in OPS leagues it replaces average to implement the more telling stat.

- I'd also take out walks too, not only because OPS already covers it to an extent but also since speed players become even more watered down by adding another traditionally power hitting stat.

My suggestion:

Runs, home runs, RBI, stolen bases, total bases, OPS

Pitching:

-You want to make pitching equal to hitting in terms of categories maybe even give it one more since saves and holds are exclusive to relievers.

- Wins, ERA, WHIP, K and saves are a given.

- I'd take out shutouts and complete games for sure because those are ones that are going end up tied almost all the time.

-Outs is interesting and I like it, but I think it would be more effective and reward complete games if you use innings pitched.

- Earned runs and walks overlap WHIP and ERA so I'd remove those. Same thing with OBP against. Pretty much the same thing as WHIP.

My suggestion: Wins, saves, innings pitched, strikeouts, holds, ERA, WHIP

Again, just my suggestions.
