Gonna list some British ones which you guys mightn't know.
Daniel Kitson: recordings of two full shows can be found on his website (
http://web.mac.com/dk27/Site/podcast/podcast.html). Absolutely amazing performer, could probably carry a 90 minute set without any material, saw him do a 60 minute one last year with nothing and it was still great. He continues to challenge himself though, focusing on having a narrative running through shows or whatever, most of his story shows are just as good as his straight standup, if not better, to be honest.
Stewart Lee: Probably best to just watch a youtube.
Harry Hill: He's gone a bit poor lately, but I find he's brilliantly silly when he hits the right notes. Managed to make a really bland and basic premise incredibly successful over here across the last decade.
Hans Teeuwen: Bit of a superstar in Holland, I believe. He started doing English shows over the last few years, probably somewhere between Andy Kaufman and Jim Carrey, but, em, a better comedian than either of those.
Limmy: Creator of the best sketch show of the past... decade? Lord knows how long. May not be comprehensible to those who cannot understand Scottish accents easily.
Adam & Joe, Chris Morris, David Renwick, Armando Iannucci, Chris Langham (ignoring all that stuff that happened later, obviously)
Em, yep, that's probably enough for now.
