That has to be the first time I've ever heard Love Story called a good movie.

Yeah, Carlos is awesome. I watched Ninja 2 last night, and I recommend it to anyone who likes watching people get kicked to death.

I don't get the hate that it's received. Sure, it's sappy and Ali McGraw's character is irritating, but Ryan O'Neal and Ray Milland make it worth watching. And Nixon liked it! "President Richard Nixon however, reportedly enjoyed the film, regretting only that it contained so much cursing."

Olivier Assayas' latest film, Something in the Air, is also on instant. Highly recommended.

Other stuff:

- Season 2 of House of Cards premieres on Valentine's Day. I didn't like the show at first, but it grew on me. It's not as good as the original, but it's close.

- Michael Cera's turn as a creep, Crystal Fairy, is up. I think Magic Magic (which is directed by the same guy and in which Michael Cera plays en even bigger creep) is better, but it's not on Netflix.

- Watch The Vicious Kind if you haven't.

The documentary The Act of Killing is pretty weird. Watch as former Indonesian war criminals (who are still protected by the Indonesian government) gleefully reenact (for some weird movie) various executions and atrocities they'd committed. Only one of them feels any guilt for what he did, and some of them look at their murderous past with nostalgia and amusement. Their appearance on a local talk show, in which the crowd gives them a standing ovation, is beyond crazy.

In the weird venn diagram that is Action Movies and Luis Guzmán showpieces, you can do no better than The Last Stand. Schwarzenegger shows his age in this, but he also shows that he's still got it. Guzmán, however, is the reason to watch it. Good if you're into violent gun battles and high-octane car chases. Excellent if you're into plot-holes and Forest Whitaker over acting.

Any Halloween recommendations?  I watched You're Next and House of the Devil this weekend and both were fun.
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

Not really a "recommendation" unless you're really bored, like already-watched-all-of-those-Inside (LEGO, Chipotle, Dreamworks) mini-documentaries bored, but I had this Doug Benson thing on and noticed a familiar shirt in the crowd.

I recommend hate-watching Somm.  If it's still there.  Oh how I would love to hear Tom rip on this movie.

Watched The Trip to Italy  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2967006/

Not as good as the original The Trip (which I guess is a condensed version of the BBC mini-series), but it's good. And I love Coogan.

30 for 30: Slaying the Badger. About the rivalry battle between Greg Lemond and Bernard Hinault, Focuses mainly on the '86 Tour de France. Very, very good.
