Living in Hanoi at the moment and as the massive annual Tet celebrations approach it's getting increasingly difficult to escape the festive favourite "Happy New Year" by ABBA.

The Best Show's sparking nightmares of someone finally snapping, snatching up a scooter helmet, and bashing in the face of the stupid foreigner as those Swedish harmonies soar.

as awful as actually getting beat up to "Yakety Sax" would be, just the concept of it has had me giggling to myself all week.

I think I finally "got" this item earlier today when I heard Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock 'n' Roll." That would be pretty horrible, I think.

I always wondered why no indie band (or any band wanting to make a video on the cheap) never copied this. It looks really cool and would be as cheap to make as you can get. What's the downside?

Let me elaborate on my choice a little.  Bob Seger's "Old Time Rock 'n Roll" would be horrible because you know the guys doing the clobbering would be getting into it, getting pumped up by it, and would start like preening and showing off for each other to it, and for them it would be like delivering a particularly brutal curbstomp was striking a really righteous blow for old time rock 'n' roll against all this new-fangled disco shit. And meantime you'd not only have to hear the song, you would know your asskicking was providing jollies for guys like that.
