I'm thinking this will turn into Au Hasard Balthasaar with rails.

I'd see it.

WASHINGTON DC FOTssss:
Perhaps because I'm crazy, I'll be in DC on inauguration day, attending the Brightest Young Things Inauguration Spectacular. Besides the fact that I'm crazy, friend-guys Mathematicians are playing this event. They got a very nice review from BYT when they played at the Kansas House with Edie Sedgewick in November. So DC FOT's, if you muster the courage to leave your house, I will be at the show. I hear there will be burlesque dancers, a live donkey, and many other fun, loud bands.

I went to that Kansas House show, and your friends were indeed very good.

I will likely be at the Inaugural Spectacular, as well, though I hope they at least sedate the donkey.

Apparent FOT hip hop favorite Wale is performing there as well.  I have to admit I'm a little afraid for the donkey.  I'm thinking this will turn into Au Hasard Balthasaar with rails.

I'm going to try and look out for him.

Yes, Wale is playing! And tons of other people. They updated the list a few days ago. Here's the blurb from the website:

You asked for change. We're giving you a reckoning.
In 2k9 The Buck Stops Here:
BYT's Inauguration Classic 2k9 Spectacular.

Where: Bohemian Caverns

When: Tuesday, January 20th, 2009. All.Day.Long!

While the rest of the free world freezes their asses off... you'll be laughing and shaking your warm and toasty ass off to emcee Tig Notaro (The Sarah Silverman Program) and live performances by:

WALE! (Exclusive!)

TEAM FACELIFT! (NYC)

TEAM ROBESPIERRE! (a lot of synths)

MATHEMATICIANS! (Devo meets Beastie Boys meets Minor Threat)

FATBACK DJs! (cuddle)

ART OF JUNK! (OMG)

TRUE WOMANHOOD! (Thurston Moore likes them)

THE LOVE LANGUAGE! (southerners who'll make you swoon)

LAUGHING MAN! (electroclash isley brothers)

MIXTAPE DJs! (Gay)

FFFEVER! (Their girlfriend works for BYT)

WILL MARFORI! (Lee High School Class President)

PLUS (running out of breath):

Inauguration viewing party!

Colt 45 drinking games!

Burlesque Acts!

Photoshoots!

Unicorns! (actually maybe not they're really expensive)

Balloon Animals!

Food!

Awkwardly Long Hugs!

Cale's Birthday!

Other things we're still working on and secret surprise guests!

I had to look it up on imdb, and came across this comment:

Quote
this movie sucked

Nothing happens. Plus, how was the donkey a saint? All it did was act like a donkey.

I've seen it (but didn't understand it.)

I'm a math guy, AND a southerner. Let's avoid metaphor, please.

Come on, Jason

Tig Notaro!  She'll inject some class into this donkey and nipple free-for-all.  See you there!

i "self-published" a book of some photos.  im pretty nervous about it; there are much better photographers out there and although im intimidated by it, we forge on and learn.  ENJOY and i hope you use that couch change to buy my book and let it collect dust on your coffee table for years to come.

PS i would NEVER ask this much for a book in reality but 66 pages+fancy paper=$$ in their pocket.

I haven't been on the board much this year but been a devotee to the show for almost four years at this point.  It makes for great listening on those long midwestern road trips and keeps me laughing every week.  I live in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis specifically) and run a record label called Modern Radio.  We put out a bunch of stuff including Mirah, Yellow Swans, STNNNG, Vampire Hands, Signal To Trust, etc etc. We have a very active message board on our website at www.modern-radio.com 2009 is the 10 year anniversary of the record label. I have found the FOT board to be full of some kind folks when I was posting about my cat dying 1 1/2 years ago and meeting ms. Kim Kelly.  I am happy to meet folks headed to the great upper midwest in the Twin Cities and hoping to make an FOT meet up at some point.

I also DJ locally under the moniker DJ TRL (my initials).  I thought I would reclaim the initials back now that the poorly named MTV show is gone.

I make a webcomic called Carpets on the Ceiling.  It updates Monday-Friday.  You can find it at http://herecomesthethunder.com

Here's a sample strip.

thankfully, i was able to reduce this price by $8.

also, i want to trade with andy for a piece of his cross stitch art...assuming andy wants a book of amateur photography.  who don't?
