no, thats a geoffrey ellis original.  although he's a SF resident, he has unabashed memphis love.

but i did take a hi-tone photo in the book, including a photo of a shangri-la records purchase.  theyre the last photos and not in the preview unfortunately.

I'll plug this just this once, but I'm starting my weekly radio show today from 4 to 6 PM.
It's called Stands for Decibels and you can listen on www.thecore.fm every Monday at 4.  I'm pretty excited. This is some prime radio real estate and we're gonna play some hot stuff.  woo!  This is the facebook group we cooked up for the show if you're so inclined:

I listened to Jason G's WFMU Mixed Tapes show last night while stuck at work. Very good stuff.  Real trippy and hyponotic.  I will be back for more.

Is there a podcast of JG's show?

Thanks, guys.  Ken is worried that it's not podsafe because the usual music licensing arrangements don't apply, even though just about everything we've aired so far is podsafe -- either we've gotten it from archives that post everything under a Creative Commons license, or from listeners or friends/colleagues who want it to be distributed.  Once in a great while we might have something that would need to be edited out, like Mel does with the songs in the Best Show podcast (like, last week we played Madlib and The Olivia Tremor Control in between the spoken word), but Karinne knows how to do that.

I suppose I could wheedle Ken about it (and still might at some point), but for right now I'm just trying to get better at radio and be a good member of team WFMU and so forth, and plus, given my schedule, putting together a show every week is work enough.  If you're willing to go through the steps, there's always this.  Or I could just mail you a bunch of CD-Rs, Dave.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

oops, guess I should have posted my bloglink here. http://www.joelhuggins.com/blog
i'm also posting podcasts, or quicktime mixtapes or whatever the hell you wanna call them on my webiste here
http://www.joelhuggins.com/podcast.html  the latest (#2) is Songs To Kick Ass To

ALSO, I'm djing a set on the dublab internet radio station.  It's part of their annual GIVE UP program in which djs play sets of depressing  music.  I'm recording mine tomorrow and think it will also stream tomorrow but not sure when. will update when I know.  http://www.dublab.com
Speaking of dublab, I HIGHLY recommend their vision version videos. kinda like an LA version of pitchforks rooftop videos.

HITONE!  GREAT place to play and hangout.  Shangri-la as well.  I cannot think of Memphis without conjuring the sound of the first seconds of that Grifters' record, the Eureka one.

AHHH!

Thanks for this trip down memory lane.

I second, third & forth that.  Memphis is the place for great music, food & fun.  Genuinely nice people. Love it!
