the oogum boogum song
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

This is worse than The Rich Man's Eight Track Tape. Big Black is overrated.

Yes. Agree 100%. WTF with Big Black?

The Rapeman album's OK, though.

As I see it, the problem with Big Black is twofold. First, everything from the music to the lyrics sounds contrived. Secondly, if it's abrasiveness and unpleasant aesthetics they're going for, they fail miserably on both counts. I've heard old free jazz records from the 1960's that are far more abrasive and unpleasant sounding than anything Big Black ever recorded. Some people say they like Big Black because they offer a unique insight into the ethos of Middle America. For me, it seems like Steve Albini is just trying to piss people off. I'm just not impressed by them.

Aside from a handful of good songs, they mostly suck.

I'm listening to Dollhouse while working. The episode is 'Spy' (I think).

Bricolage by Amon Tobin. Highly recommended.

I think you summarize it pretty well. Plus the business with the drum machine.  How the F are you gonna rock without a human drummer? Might as well go home.

With Shellac, I bought one record and thought: cool, cardboard cover, cool, extra thick vinyl, cool, nice job recording that guitar and those drums. Then I listened to it I think twice.

Talking Heads, though, I do love them. Appreciate them more as I get older, in inverse rock band appreciation manner.

Bricolage by Amon Tobin. Highly recommended.

Hey, I own that record as well.
I don't listen to it much.  Perhaps I will since you've recommended it.
And I don't have to buy it.

Maybe I missed something>>>>>>>>

If I'm not mistaken, Bricolage was awarded a rare 10.0 by Pitchfork. Doesn't necessarily make it better than any other album. Just an interesting fact.

Hey Fredericks, are you still listening to that 89 cent Booker T. and The MG's record? I wish I could find a bargain like that.

Not today Regulator G a little cloudy.

BTW it cost $.79.

GoodWill and Starvation Army are great sources.

Couple a days ago at the Army I picked up a Mozart double album and an old Harry Belafonte on RCA Victor in "New Orthophonic High Fidelity"!

Both for $ .61 (there was a sale).
I felt guilty when I put the change from the dollar in my pocket.

Then I remembered my MG's record and I felt justified.

I'm little concerned about this Orthophonic High Fidelity though.

I've found some good LP's at Half Price Books and the like. Although, they're a little more pricey there. I would like to start collecting vinyl, but it's not cheap. The small collection that I do have is mostly culled from my parent's basement. I have found some good stuff, though. But I guess it's time to trudge through some local Goodwill stores and flea markets.

Thanks for the advice Fredericks. And good call on Tuesday night.

I like Bricolage. Supermodified is cool b/c of 'Get Yr Snack On', but Bricolage is more consistent.
