Yeah, it's kind of unlistenable. I didn't really get the big deal about Mr. Beefheart until I checked out Clear Spot (produced by children's music favorite Ted Templeman).

I still need to check out Clear Spot.

I've had Trout Mask Replica for years, every couple of months I pull it out meaning to listen to it, but mostly it doesn't even make it into the CD player.

I'm with Grote on this one. I like Captain Beefheart, but I find Trout Mask Replica to be mostly unlistenable.

I think his best albums are Lick My Decals Off, Baby and that live album that Rhino Handmade released a few years ago. Unfortunately, both of those albums are OOP.

Safe as Milk is about the only Beefheart I find somewhat decent.
