What do you expect from a 6 year old?

I think he was maybe 11 or 12.  Possibly too young to realize the scope of it.

Plus he was just a character anyway.

Tom used to have ongoing joke about saying Petey was much younger than he actually was. My favorite was when he said Petey was an 8 year old when he was turning 14.

Was that the first Petey or the second Petey?

Wounded Lion. I'm about a year late to discover this, but holy moly does this thing sound great! There's a heavy Modern Lovers/Velvets/Clean influence. Really catchy and addictive.

Then you'll probably like Wounded Lion. Also check out Box Elders. Box Elders did a set on Choking on Cufflinks a while back, which, I think, is available for free on the free music archive.

Love me some Box Elders.  Alice and Friends was one of my favorite records of 2009.

I've been digging this band from Australia called Bitch Prefect who also fall comfortably in this style, more on The Clean side of things.

The new PJ Harvey album over and over again.

That really is a stunner, that one.

Agreed. It has given me anxiety and made me well up. I'm really impressed by it!

November 1, 2010 show.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

November 1, 2010 show.

Of course I can see why NPR wouldn't contact Tom, the Best Show's humor is clearly not what they are going for.  However, I think what Benjamin Walker can produce, largely by himself, beats NPR at it's own game.  I don't think it's the intellectualism of NPR that is its flaw but it's self-satisfied smarm.  TMI's edginess, as I see it, is not something I would imagine NPR would embrace.  Although it has been compared to This American Life.

I think Clay Pigeon could find a home at NPR. His voice is like the Bizarro World version of the typical NPR voice.
