I like "It Comes to Me Naturally" (great Chuck Berry rip w/ funny macho lyrics) and "Ridin' in My Car" (wimpy but purty).

N.R.B.Q. - It Comes To Me Naturally written by Al Anderson

NRBQ: Ridin' in My Car

Wait, did somebody say they don't like this band?  What are they, sick or something?

Definition of music hipster: Person who doesn't like Humble Pie or The Allman Brothers Band. Thier live albums from the Fillmore are both incredible.

+1 Dave

I can't say that I've listened to much Humble Pie, but those first few Allman Bros albums are uniformly great, IMO.

I dig Grand Funk, myself.

I really like that Duane and Greg solo record with "Morning Dew" and that stripped down version of "Melissa." Ever hear the Cowboy song "Please Be With Me"? Duane played on it and it's one of my all-time favs:

Russian Tsarlag, my friend Greg wrote a nice bit about this band and posted a tape on his blog:

If you're gonna boogie make it fast:

Johnny Winter Highway 61 Revisited 1976

Oh, and rock.

I like both Humble Pie annd the Allmans not their Filmore stuff though.

Sorry, Dave.

One strike against NRBQ is that I find Terry Adams' "wacky" onstage persona and his "quirky" playing really fucking annoying. There's so much of NRBQ's catalog that I find insufferable, but I really REALLY like some of what they do - and I miss that sort of grainy white soul voice that Al Anderson had; nobody really sings like that anymore. Plus, Tom Ardolino is a master at the peculiar swinging-but-not-quite-a-shuffle feel that early rock and roll drummers like Earl Palmer had. I mean, his performance here is pretty awesome - it's REALLY hard for modern drummers to capture this kind of loose-limbed feel:

NRBQ from NRBQ Video Hour I Got A Rocket In My Pocket 1980

And as far as Humble Pie is concerned...I mean, they come damn near close to "Kick Out the Jams"-era Marijuana Cigarette Five territory here:

Agreed on Tommy and your choice and analysis regarding "I Don't Need No Doctor".

Only song I liked on "Rockin' The Filmore" I sold it.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

I've thought about boiling it down to a more manageable length, but each time I try I find that I miss the "flaws."
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

The fact that they released that, London Calling and "Bankrobber" within the span of one calendar year is nothing short of ridiculous. It's like the rock equivalent of Coppola's '74.

A Fairport Convention kick led me to these two gems. How long before Spotify is registered as a narcotic?

I haven't listened to this album in quite some time.
