In the sound collage there was a clip from a radio show or podcast that Tom appeared on and the host said something like "why is your show a phenomenon because from that clip I'm not buying it?". Anyone know what that was from?
I thought it was from the WFMU movie.

I don't remember specifics, but it was some dude on NPR and it happened during an interview with Station Manager Ken and the guy that directed the WFMU doc.

Coming to a cut-out bin in 2015...

You've heard of "direct to video" releases, well this new Ringo gem is a "direct to cut-out bin" release.

Gregory has the details right.  You can hear the interview here; Best Show discussion (such as it is) begins around 10:10:

i remember getting a kick out of that whole interview. it seemed like the guy wanted to just say "you know WFMU sucks, right?"

If only I'd known at the time that Tom had Nirvana tickets, I'd have gladly bought two from him.  I never did get to see them.

Listening now... Lisa Jane Persky reminded me of the time in 1979 when for a friends birthday his dad took us all to see  The Great Santini. No 7 year old kid wants to see that movie, there was like the Black Stallion and the Muppet Movie or something playing..Moonraker...20 kids all bored to death squirming in our seats. she's great though, but man, that film. I still feel restless when I think about it. Love the Divine and Ringo stories

Towards the end of the program, when it was just Tom talking again, I got chills.  It was past midnight, there was no topic, no callers, it was like listening to someone staring into space and hearing their mind reel at all the possibilities.  It was so exciting, just thinking about where the show will be in a year's time is blowing my brain out the back of my head.  That was the best thing about last night's show, hearing that 2015 is going to be truly bananas in Tom's voice.

JW's call last night was, quite literally, a work of art, and one of the funniest things I've ever heard.
