I've said it in chat and on the board a couple times, but I think it bears repeating:  Tom should make Mike do the ads sometimes, Hank Kingsley style with their own bumper music and possibly a script, maybe even employ Jelloman, Kindler, or other friends of the show FPs to do them to break up the monotony from time to time and make them fun.  I have absolutely no problem with the ads, I would just like to see Tom and co. have fun with them, it might be cool to even have Wurster characters weave them into the tapestry of a call from time to time. PBR talking about nem Nature Box snacks (or possibly this would be more of a Bryce or Hippy Johnny thing?) or something like that could be a lot of fun.  The ads on Comedy Bang Bang and similar podcasts are fine and I'm glad they're there so I can keep getting these shows for free, but I've always wished that Aukerman would try to do something more interesting with them than just taping them separately and having them interspersed through the show sort of awkwardly.  You could do something interesting with them in the body of the actual show that wouldn't be inhibit the flow of comedy.

Also, I hope Tom will consider doing a marathon show.  I know they're a ton of work for him, but I always loved the FMU marathon shows and I would be more than happy to pledge to the new Best Show, I wouldn't even want a premium in return.  Just knowing I was able to pledge money to a show I love would be reward enough for me, and I suspect I'm not the only one.  I don't know if the new studio space is big enough/not residential enough to incorporate bands and/or loud music, but a couple weeks of marathon shows with special guests and music would be phenomenal.

Great point.  It's so obvious.  With Gary the Squirrel sometimes?  "Hey Gary, why rummage through garbage looking for pizza crusts when you could order healthy snacks every month from NatureBox."

I picture the boneheads who found the Turkington interview boring thinking that he really was spouting obscure movie wisdom and knowledge.

Vance on LegalZoom, Captain Cronut for Stamps.com, the possibilities are mind-boggling.

i hardly even noticed the 1st 'commercial'. it's not that bad at all. plus remind yourself that it means tom and co and getting paid. it will take a whole lot of 30 second ads to negate the countless hours of FREE show we already have been given.

and I agree that every show this year has been great. keep up the excellent work!

seriously, it didn't even occur to me that it was an ad until i read it here. that's fuckin skill if you ask me. i prefer that to shit like comedy bang bang were it feels like they interrupt the show every 15 minutes to do a fucking 3 minute ad break

I don't mind the ads on CBB so I certainly don't mind them on the Best Show. I don't understand how there can be any complaint, especially to anyone who understands why Tom couldn't continue the show on FMU. Plus most episodes thus far have gone a little longer than 3 hours so you're actually getting more for the money you're not paying.

has anyone listened to the Jeff Bridges thing yet?

I found the "commercial" timely, having just bookmarked the website for this album last week.

I figure that in the least, it should be good for charity, and with some luck, I might be able to mix it in with some shortwave radio recordings to make something truly hallucinatory out of it.

sadly, I have no current use for a website.  nobody ever listens to a thing I say.

ergh...truck nuts; or as I like to call them, "why I left Texas".

"I don't know much about Tom T. Hall or Merle Haggard but I do like this band I saw on tv the other day...Georgia State Line?  They're kinda like if Winger played country."

"That might not be for me."

"Well, wait 'til you hear it."

I listen to the show on podcast. Is there a way to hear a download version of the show that includes the music?
