Considering the stand out callers this year, I'm forced to look at this more like the oscars, in that nominees can win in more than one category. Is this correct? If so, here are my first glance suggestions (in bold). There will probably be more to follow as I think of them:

BEST CALLER OF THE YEAR
  • Julie from Cincinnati
  • Emma from Toronto
  • Fredericks from New Port Richey

BEST CALL OF THE YEAR:
  • "The Joe Paterno Call"
  • Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger
  • "1000 Fights"

BEST GUEST:
  • Andrew Daly
  • Zach Galifianakis
  • Jon Glaser
  • Paul F Tompkins
  • John Hodgman
  • Matt Fraction (although he may be more a caller than a guest)
  • Todd Barry

SADDEST CALLER OF THE YEAR:
  • Julie
  • Spike
  • Fredericks
  • Charlie the Addict
  • Beer in the Shower Guy

SADDEST CALL OF THE YEAR: (if you have a best call category in addition to best caller, you clearly must have saddest call as well)
  • "Go Shop For A Coffin"

WORST CALLER OF THE YEAR:
  • Julie
  • Spike
  • Michael K from The Cynics
  • The kid from Psychedelic Sitting Room

WORST CALL OF THE YEAR: (Should this not be a category as well? Just a thought.)

MOST DELUSIONAL CALLER OF THE YEAR:
  • Julie
  • Spike
  • Fredericks
  • Trembling Eagle

BEST/MOST VIOLENT THREAT ON TOM'S LIFE:
  • "I'm going to turn you in to the world's largest and dumbest hot-dog."

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR:
  • Fredericks from New Port Richey
  • Julie from Cincinnati
  • Steve from North Hollywood

BEST HEAVE-HO:

BEST BEST SHOW SCRIVENER:
  • Omar

I really want to win Most Delusional Caller of the Year. It's appropriate and I DESERVE IT!

Vote for me, you zombies!
I have a long history of booing

Since when do people lust only after the living?

(No, this is not an oblique way of confessing necrophiliac tendencies.)

I just thought I'd nominate hugman for creepiest post of the year, but I changed my mind.

Fair enough. Fair enough.

Vote for me, you zombies!

Well in that case, I'm nominating you for MOST SELF-AWARE CALLER OF THE YEAR, Jules. Burn in your golden hell!

Meaning mine was creepier?  Jeepers.  So everyone on the planet ceases feeling lust for particular individuals once they're dead?  E.g., when people watch old movies, they never gauge the attractiveness of the actors if they know they're deceased?  Stuff and nonsense.

I agree with Sarah on this one. I still want to do the deed with Heath Ledger even though the idiot got himself dead.

I believe Spike was a nominee for Best and Worst Caller last year and I see no reason not to repeat.

Tom Jamesing James has to be in there somewhere, can Tom give himself an award?

Also, Petey's call on the Jan. 8th show is award worthy. First show of the year, after being away for a week or so, it went like Spike into Supercaller James into Julie's 1st call into the La Dusseldorf guy into Petey - who did this amazing Scott Farkus laff that left Tom in an early deficit. The show turned the corner after that, but it's a great slump call for sure, especially if you loves you some Petey calls like I does.  PROOF!

Also Julie for RoTY.

EDIT - Oooh oooh and Dave's Dirtbombs story, was that last year?

Hugman is 100% correct on that one.

I vote Samir for caller of the year.

Is there an award for most redundant caller? I have someone in mind...

The Volcano Suns fiasco could qualify as worst call of the year.

No, that's scariest call! Or skin-crawlingest.

Samir is the best caller of the year. Consistently funny and a true star!

My favorite "heave-ho" was the Drillbit Taylor kid.

Most illuminating Google Drac search is shower beer because I'm still amazed that it is an actual thing that more than one person does. I mean, plural! People! More than that one guy who called in. Amazing.

The Jim Cramer Award goes to Regular Joe for his remarkable achievement in soundboard technology.

The AP Mike's Supermarket award goes to Steve from North Hollywood for his Mickey Rourke-esque comeback. He also wins Rookie of the Year.

Charlie the Drug Addict is the saddest caller.

I'm sorry, Trembling Eagle, but you are the most delusional caller. This decision is based mostly on your taste in music but also partially on that iron brotherhood thread.

Hugman's 1000 Fights is clearly the best call of the year. My god, that was funny.

Can I also nominate Hugman for best first call? Because that was an amazing call.

Best Picture of the Year goes to Joe Paterno picture! To a great group!

Also, how could I forget?? Best new segment is Match Wits with APMike!
Too soon?

Unless Tom says otherwise, I think we need to stick with the categories listed.  I'm preparing brief highlight reels for each category and it's a bit late in the game to be adding all these others.  These nominees for saddest call, worst call, and creepiest call can and likely will be incorporated into the Worst, Saddest, and Most Delusional caller awards.

So the list is filling up nicely, but we could still use more suggestions for Best HeaveHo/GOMP.  Also if anyone can pinpoint specifically creepy, sad, or delusional soundbytes from any of the nominees, that would be very helpful and appreciated.

You can PM them to me if you're worried about hurting anyone's feelings, though I think the only people who are being zung are those who have been consistently zung on the show, so I don't think any of the nominees for the "bad" awards will be at all surprised or offended.
