According to Rock Band it should be "Lime Light" by Rush.

But I'm not a Rush fan, so I usually sing "Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon" by The Kinks. Or Love Shack if I'm drunk enough.

I've cut down a little on my karaoke intake but this week I had a friend in town so we went out twice and I did (not kidding here, people):

"Your Love" by The Outfield

and

"Here Comes the Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze

I did 'Staying Alive', about halfway through the falsetto destroyed my voice for weeks.

I usually torture the crowd with an off-key version of 'Workin' In a Coalmine' by Lee Dorsey.

This is probably the funniest thing I've ever heard in my life. I can see it!

Despite Lost In Translation, Sex Pistols songs really are great fun to sing when drunk.

The OJay's Backstabbers. You'd be surprised how many karaoke places have that song.

Funny moment that always crack me up: when someone chooses a song with a memorable chorus, but a difficult or not-so-memorable verse. Like "Leader of the Pack". Always a trainwreck.

oh, that's the worst.  its why i go solo now; i had too many duets with chorus-only participation.

surprisingly, ive done dexy's midnite runners (come on eileen), r.e.m. (it's the end of the world...), gloria gaynor (i will survive), and some other popular tracks where NO ONE in the bar even knew the melody, where it really counts.

I would have to say my similar experience is when I was doing a song that I THOUGHT everybody in a bar with karaoke would be into, and them just not knowing or feeling it like when I did "Don't Stop Me Now". Hoo boy did I feel awkward.

Any karaoke place that has that song is top notch. Been wanting to try my hand at that for quite some time now...

On New Year's Eve, we were doing a little live karaoke in my friend's basement.  I think I sang "Rise Above", "Bite It You Scum", and "Last Caress". We were going to do some Minor Threat, until my friend who said he knew how to play all of their songs on guitar somehow forgot all of the ones I wanted to sing.

I can nail "The Revealing Science of God", but it's hard to find it on the machine at most joints.

this thread reminds me of my dream to open a karaoke bar that provides less-than-obvious songs.  true story.
