Yeah, that one takes a lot of reading between the lines.  Subtle and disconnected from his emotions are not things that describe Tom.

My fahntasy:  It is the last Best Show, ever.  Tom gets a call from Jon Wurster as....Jon Wurster.  Totally normal. They talk about all of the joy and all of the laughter of the past many years.

Then maybe, after about 20 minutes of normalcy, Wurster lets slip something about bodies stacked like firewood in his basement, and things go totally south.

Of the names in the poll, I'd be most excited for a Best Show featuring special guest Kevin Costner, where there would be multiple allusions to Mr. Brooks, but the movie itself would never directly come up. Later, Kevin Costner & Modern West would play a song or two in the studio, with Tom giving whispered play-by-play during the performances. There would also possibly be calls from Newbridge residents who keep confusing Swing Vote with Swing Kids.

My fantasy (What a disturbing way to start a sentence that is) is for an April 1 show where JW guest-hosts and Tom portrays that evening's Newbridge callers.

Imagine Herzog trying to get to the "ecstatic truth" of Spike.

Could be me, but I am not a huge fan of guests. Ted Leo and PFT are great because they roll with it and obviously listen to the show so they can roll with changes in Tom's various attitudes to callers and residents of Newbridge as they happen and then they just talk about stuff. Most guests though, there is a easing in period which isn't as fun. Not a compliant since callers (myself included) have the same problem. Its just that Tom can't and wouldn't want to hang up on them when they are being awkward or weird.

My dream guest is Andy Daly again, only this time in character as a Newbridge resident. Or any in-studio appearances by Newbridge residents.

I don't know, this seems a little mundane to me, unless it turned out to be true.
