You never thought that going on tv with one of your girlfriends might result in your other, "real" girlfriend finding out? How 'bout that.

It looked to me like he was faking his surprise - and doing it badly. This stunt must have been pre-orchestrated. But still hilarious.

possibly.  nevertheless, i like to think he was truly surprised (he said he was shaking, which made me chuckle more) despite the obvious way it was absolutely phoned in (note: i believe the producers planned the other girlfriend showing up, but i dont think he knew).

I'm with Steve and Sarah.  I gotta have someone to root for and this show lacks that. The closest thing to it is Sean's surprise girlfriend just cuz she got ganged up on so hard. But the girls on this show deserve these tools. They're awful.  I'd rather borrow a dvd from AP Mike if I'm gonna watch such misery.

i absolutely agree on every accounts but the need to root someone on (and im usually that person); i can't help but find pleasure in the audacious and insane comprehension it must take to not only date one of these guys but to be one these guys.  im intrigued and humored all at once.

I managed a minute and a half and am now done.

i agree - although i made it longer than that. i really, really tried giving this show a chance. i figure anything that will help me get more out of my best show listening experience is worth checking out. i was wrong in this case. i've been doing my damndest to avoid tools like this my entire life - there's no way i can sit there and root for them to finally do the (painfully obvious) right thing. i also can't stand the causal way they throw the word "love" around. it reminds me a lot of what you're likely to hear just before the fists and chairs start flying on the jerry springer show ("i love you travis! i love you darlene!" bang! smash! crash!) tom's description of these idiots had me in stitches. seeing them in the flesh made me furious.

maybe i'm a tool for not getting what's so special about these tools.

this weekend, i drove to the local taco shop and it's no surprise that phoenix is landlocked and phoenix is not near water, but somehow four guys and a girl decided to walk in, no shirts, in bathing suits and flip flops, like they were on the boardwalk.

What is the difference between Tool Academy and Gs to Gents? I wasn't aware of the latter show until last night, but they do seem similar.

"Gs to Gents" was hosted by Fonzworth Bentley. It was more about reforming guys who wanted everyone to know how tough they were. Thieves, thugs, gangbangers and skewed a little more to (ahem) an urban demographic. The lessons were less about being better partners are more about being better men (business acumen, table manners, debates).

Also the guys on it seemed generally more concerned with actually improving, as opposed to dancing around in unsettlingly  little shorts all the time. I understand there will be another season though, so you haven't missed your chance.
