Did you hear the episode where Chris Hardwick talks about pulling a "do you know who I am" to the security guard in the building where they tape the podcast and where Chris films Web Soup? And the other two guys back him up and think what he did was appropriate. Their argument was: a security guard at a television studio should know EVERY SINGLE person who is on the channel. It was pretty disgusting.

I rarely listen so I didn't hear that, but does Chris work in the E! building?  I've heard dubious stories about a security guard they used to have.  He was eventually fired.

The podcast is okay sometimes, but I'm surprised it's as popular as WTF.  When "the gang" and Paul Scheer were talking about buying custom artwork(s) based on 80s movies, I threw up a little.

We just posted an interview we did with Adam Carolla on the most recent episode of Shoddy Radio. The interview is about half an hour long and Adam tells a couple of interesting stories that even some long time Carolla fans may not have heard before. I know a lot of folks around here aren't huge fans of the Aceman, so if you fall into that category maybe try another episode like this one.

Yeah, when the guest is good then the episode is good. But if the guest is dull don't look to Hardwick and the other two guys to make it better.

Probably the best two episodes Nerdist has done were the interviews with Rainn Wilson and Billy West. The comedian special they did was also very good.

I like the idea of Shoddy Radio.  Maybe Podcastin' could end up there.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

All the old ones are, yes. But there are plans to feature more English/American guests in the future.

Hey, for those of you who don't regularly listen to Doug Loves Movies, this week's episode with John Hamm and others is as full of laughs as any episode I have heard all year. Really funny recurring jokes throughout (after Doug uncomfortably extricates him from an unpleasant situation from the previous week, anyway.) It's a keeper.

Agreed.  I laughed as much at this episode of DLM as I have at any podcast episode in recent memory.

I might be biased against this episode because Bill Simmons is not somebody I am a fan of. Anyone who uses the term "hipster" to disparage anything slightly esoteric or idiosyncratic is someone I can't put too much trust in, and I wonder if that Bruins bandwagoner knows that "Breaking Away" was directed by Peter Yates, who also directed The Friends of Eddie Coyle.

Eddie Coyle talks about Number 4: Bobby Orr!

He also disqualified Bull Durham from his Best Sports Movie conversation because he saw it on Lifetime. Yeah, it can't be good if women might wind up seeing it, right?

I happened to be at the recording and much of the audience didn't know what to make of him (it was clear that 75% had no idea who he was). I thought Simmons was wise to stay in the background for a lot of the show, definitely looked like he was feeling it out for his first time.

As for Bull Durham, it shouldn't be the best sports movie because it's a lousy movie.

I was so grateful that the folks at the Slate Culture Podcast recommended Start the Week. I needed a podcast to replace the Slate Culture Podcast. That host guy is an insufferable dick.

AGREED. "Start the Week" can get a little heady, but is a much friendlier show than the Slate Culture snobfest. I stopped listening after they had one of the Slate sportswriters on to explain contemporary video game culture. One of the regulars was so snobby to him ("I just don't know why anyone would be interested in that . .") even though he was doing them a favor.

I highly recommend The Tobolowsky Files. Wonderful personal storytelling that is funny and poignant. He was on Sklarbro Country a couple weeks ago and it was wonderful.

Also..Sklarbro Country? Great!
