I tried Roderick on the Line at the insistence of a friend who I'd in turn demanded to listen to the Best Show.

I gave it an episode plus, but I just can't get into it. John Roderick reminds me of Eugene Chadbourne when I heard him talk 15 years ago - outsider musicians of that relative age give me the willies.

And my friend just can't get into the Best Show.

I'm sure they don't seem very different to fans of Jay Leno, but.
I really don't appreciate your sarcastic, anti-comedy tone, Bro!

44, to be precise, I guess, though it can be a little more or a little less.

buffcoat! How will you feel if your friend only gives the Best Show "an episode plus?"

Why does Jeff Garlin a) hate everything b) think "big bowl of..." is charming?

If you think his use of "Big bowl of..." is grating, do not listen to the Tig Notaro episode. He says it at least 5 times, and he does it such a way that it feels shoehorned in, like it's something he's checking off a list.

My actual attempt to listen to that episode.
Good to see you using Downcast at least.

You'd be left with only the ads.

The frequency of Doug Loves Movies episodes with funny guests is down to 1 every 20.

Here are some Philly-based podcasts that, uhm, me or altar egos of mine have recently been guests on.

http://olio.fm/2013/07/10/youareamericausa-2/

This is called "Your Are America, USA" and is a spoof of This American Life. My good buddy Alex Gross put this together. I played Templeton Braddock, the self-proclaimed "New Voice of America" and aspiring Moth contestant. I really, really, really hate competitive storytelling and the whole fraud that is that scene. This was so much fun!

http://sliceradio.com.au/category/liberation/

I was the first guest on Liberation, which is a Philly-based non-competitive storytelling show. I wrote a piece pretending to be an emo NSA data analyst who uses his clearances to see what his high school girlfriend is up to these days. They interview me (not in character) and my story's also included. This was a blast! It's also part of the whole radio thing Dan From Orange has put together.

And yes, this is shameless.

I still enjoy Doug Loves Movies, although I could do without the mini eps.

Wheelies- I'm havin' a time
Headlocks- I'm havin' a time
Drunk Tank- not so much a time
George St.- I'm havin' a time
Brenda- I'm havin' a time
Bingo- I'm havin' a time
House Arrest- I'm still havin' a time

Me too. I find the actual shows reliably entertaining, but I never listen to the other material he puts on his feed.

Thanks for the Chelsea Peretti recommendation, I'm loving it so far. I like that she just lets herself go nuts on mic and isn't (seemingly) one of those comedians obsessed with pleasing people.

But also if someone said "I hate that annoying podcast," I would totally get where they were coming from, too.
