Subcategory:  Can anyone name a GOOD band that has a number in their name?

I was thinking about this today, and could only come up with Three Dog Night, and even that's highly debatable.  Oh, and I guess The MC5 are on the good side.  But seriously, Matchbox 20, Third Eye Blind, Seven Mary Three, Finger Eleven, Sector 7-G, 311, Stroke 9, Eve 6 ... All terrible!  And all still getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much airplay.

Gang Of Four, Delta 72, Delta 5, Count Five, the Five Royales, the Old '97s ...

But you're right - the spate of terrible late 90s/early 00s bands with numbers in their names was something to behold.

Oh, and I was thinking about this as I changed the radio station from a channel playing "Sex and Candy" by Marcy Playground, and landed on a channel playing "Push You A-round" (I can only assume that's what it's called) by Matchbox 20.  Then screamed, in aggravation, for a solid sixty seconds.

What about Mojave 3? I like some of their stuff.

Big Steve, I can forgive a lot, but don't start ripping on the numbers, man, I can only take so much.

I guess I am some sort of unhip dolt, but I still like lots of U2. B-52's first album is still a lot of fun. KRS-One had moments, as did early UB40. The Four Tops are hunky dory in my book. Early Jackson 5 tunes still move me. Dave Clark Five was kind of fab, sort of early hard-hat pop. Despite possibly being linked with Spike, I like the 5 Satins. Death From Above 1979's You're a Woman, I'm a Machine isn't exactly enjoyable, but it's kind of interesting. 5678's do that retro thing pretty well. And don't forget 1989 Heavy Metal Grammy winners Jethro Twoll (songs from the wood make you feel much better.) The Twooters? Twoodd Rundgren?

And now that I really think about it, you better start preparing your apology to the Queen.....ever heard of Hank IV?

See I knew I could count on FOTs to set me straight.  So there ARE still some good Number Bands throughout rock history.  I really need to get an iPod and be rid of Los Angeles radio forever.

This is so bad that I love it.

You probably have seen this on TV Carnage.  For those of you that haven't, enjoy.

Hopefully Teddy Rockstar will cover this on his next album.

You're hearing it in your head* right now.

*Except Julie, who is hearing it in her brain.

What, do you think everyone else has magic little creatures in their head, but outside of their brains, but inside of their skulls, that make the sounds of everything going on around them? If so, then you are like my friend Lee who talks to his pancakes, and whose pancakes talk to him, and who told me my toe hurts because I have aliens in my stomach. That's much worse than hearing things in your brain.

This is my favorite horrible song ever, except for the Peppermint Stick Man, and it's exactly what the inside of my head would look like if there were little creatures there.

Seriously. The White Stripes (among other bands) could whip that song into shape without a problem.

SOOOOOO, I play drums in a band, and these guys (not me, at least not as much) are sorta obsessed with this song.
Additionally, we're recording a cover of it.
Additionally, we're making a record with Jim Diamond right now.

ADDITIONALLY he's pretty much the most super, great, and kind person I could ever hope to work with.  He is, straight up, a tremendous guy.

My friend dressed up like the Hairdresser woman for Halloween.  We called it the Leather Garbage Bag.

Thanks to this fortnight's Best Show Gem:

(I don't think its the worst song, though. It's pretty funny.)
If honesty changed the hearts of men, who could contend? If all I thought were true, in this great divide that is my life, I fear to think of all that I'd undo, if all i thought were true.

Make sure your singer does that chicken dance during the chorus. The 2000's need a dance craze!
