listened to 2 that stuck out recently. One where the subject was "who goes in your hate pit" from late 2007. dave from knoxville, who usually sounds like a pretty smart dude, calls up and says some jbjab about gary shandling having not done anything worthwhile since 1990. exsqueeze me? larry sanders ran until what, 1998? that's 8 years of AMAZING under shandling's belt post dave's cutoff. larry sanders is the predecessor for curb your enthusiasm, the office (hank kingsley is a prototype for david brent), arrested development, and 30 rock among others. dave also said he was disappointed in j-lo's lack of use of her talent? dave, what's the deal, man? out of sight? i guess she was good in that, but couldn't that role have been anyone else? honestly? the other episode i heard recently involved the discussion of nick cage's career-- which, sure; dude makes terrible movies. but most of them are simultaneously awful and amazing. face off? he says, "i take my face... off" in that stupid voice- god i love that stupid voice. and then con air, with that awful southern accent and he goes, "why didn't you just put down the bunneeh?" it's almost commendable how bad he is. like, you have to try really hard to achieve that level of stupid. the rock-- "i'm gonna take pleasure in guttin' you, boy." criterion released this one. Criterion Collection Presents The Rock. that is a real thing that exists. why? because nicholas cage is unparalleled in the field of acting. adaptation, sure. brilliant. but have you seen wicker man? it's even brillianter. mike said it best, he's his own genre and now i think he only takes movies in which the main character can see the future. nick cage is my favorite genre. plugs and all.
