Tom's New Jersey Devil roll call from June 10 2003 is great - the Flames fans in my office were not happy with me playing that after they were kicked out of the play offs this week.

Trust me, it's hilarious even if you're not rubbing it in for people whose team is hitting the links...

February 14, 2006. The show where Tom and Rick from Poster Children get into it. Good GOD. What a smug, sanctimonious prick that guy was.

Was that the guy who kept saying "pooh-pooh'd" and knocking the south?

What an asshole.

You're thinking Michael K from The Cynics. The Poster Children are a band with the worlds greatest actor playing the worlds biggest asshole on The Best Show.

Oh, the feud was real.  Tom played around with it for awhile, fun was had.  But then things got a little out of hand.

I still say she sounds like Cher.

@ buffcoat:

I'm listening to that show again and those guys make me want to cave my head in. They remind me of everyone I've ever met that's from a metropolitan area. The worst part was when they both did that laugh when Tom asked them if they celebrated Valentines day.

long ago i started a project to chop out the best bits from each episode of the Best Show to make CDs out of for road trips. I abandoned it quickly after I realized I just like listening to the shows in full.

So I have my entire audio collection on my computer (music, comedy, radio shows, podcasts) on random and a snippet from the first post-9/11 show played where Tom talked to a kid who wanted to start a pirate radio station so he could play slipknot on it. After the clip was over, it went to David Cross's bit from Shut Up You Fucking Baby about seeing a flamboyant roller-blader the day after 9/11.

My point is, it was neat

Oh, and then immediately after that was my own fat voice doing appearing in some raw audio for a lame home-made comedy bit from 4 years ago, gross. Way to ruin everything, ME

26th June 2001 - the guy from Ye Olde Burger Barn talking about the batter butler.

Tom is in disbelief that the guy would want to dip a burger in batter... where I live, battered burgers and sausages are quite a delicacy.

Not listening to anything in the Archive, but today's Best Show Gems podcast is great beyond words.

"Jeff from Garwood" - is that Spike without his "accent"?

It's funny you should mention that because I was wondering the same thing. It sure sounds like it.

listened to 2 that stuck out recently.  One where the subject was "who goes in your hate pit" from late 2007. dave from knoxville, who usually sounds like a pretty smart dude, calls up and says some jbjab about gary shandling having not done anything worthwhile since 1990. exsqueeze me? larry sanders ran until what, 1998? that's 8 years of AMAZING under shandling's belt post dave's cutoff. larry sanders is the predecessor for curb your enthusiasm, the office (hank kingsley is a prototype for david brent), arrested development, and 30 rock among others. dave also said he was disappointed in j-lo's lack of use of her talent? dave, what's the deal, man? out of sight? i guess she was good in that, but couldn't that role have been anyone else? honestly? the other episode i heard recently involved the discussion of nick cage's career-- which, sure; dude makes terrible movies. but most of them are simultaneously awful and amazing. face off? he says, "i take my face... off" in that stupid voice- god i love that stupid voice. and then con air, with that awful southern accent and he goes, "why didn't you just put down the bunneeh?" it's almost commendable how bad he is. like, you have to try really hard to achieve that level of stupid. the rock-- "i'm gonna take pleasure in guttin' you, boy." criterion released this one. Criterion Collection Presents The Rock. that is a real thing that exists. why? because nicholas cage is unparalleled in the field of acting. adaptation, sure. brilliant. but have you seen wicker man? it's even brillianter. mike said it best, he's his own genre and now i think he only takes movies in which the main character can see the future. nick cage is my favorite genre. plugs and all.

I say no.  Vague similarities only.

I guess my hearing is going bad then. And at the ripe age of 25, no less.
