Unrest discography

Does anybody remember Tom's suggested listening order for Unrest's discography?  I can't remember what show that was from. 

And is it weird that I'm more familiar with Air Miami's body of work than Unrest's?

If this isn't what he said, then this is what I say: Imperial f.f.r.r. then Kustom Karnal Blaxploitation then Perfect Teeth then everything else.

Dan B, I think you're suggested listening order is the same as Tom's. I've only listened to Imperial F.F.R.R. and I wasn't all that impressed. But that's just my opinion.

I would never underestimate PERFECT TEETH! I've played stuff from it on the air over the last few months. It's a great album.

But I was trying to take that dude on a tour through the Unrest catalog. And I think the best way to get an idea of the scope and variation of it is to look at IMPERIAL FFRR and KUSTOM KARNAL BLACKXSPLOITATION as the soft and hard. If you can cope with that, then go to MALCOM X PARK, which is the best example in my opinion of their all over the map-ness. If you're still on board, then you can go anywhere, including PERFECT TEETH, which is ultimately an extension of IMPERIAL FFRR in a lot of ways. 

At the time I remember being bummed with PERFECT TEETH because it was the first Unrest album where the sound of the band was constant over two releases. But I got on board because it's great and it's Mark Robinson, who is one of the most underrated guys out there.

I don't know if you addressing me specifically Steve, but like I said Imperial ffrr just didn't appeal to me. It doesn't mean that it's not a good album though. A lot of people like Unrest and Imperial ffrr, in particular. So maybe I'm wrong and I should give it a second listen.

Yeah, even if I don't really like Unrest, I fully acknowledge that they are talented and I do like some of their songs, just not most of them.

While I can't comment on the quality of this (not having listened to it or heard much Unrest), I thought that you might be interested to know that fluxblog.org has a "Best of Unrest" mix available for download.  For sampling purposes only, of course.

It's strange.  I got "Malcolm X Park" a couple years ago and I was quite sure that I would never hear the name Unrest muttered from another human being.  Sure enough, one night as I was driving, I caught a show where Tom was making a list extremely similar to last night's show.  It was supposed to be the entire polar universe of best and worst people.  Tom contributed "Mark Robinson of the Unrest band" himself to this I believe.  I was completely shocked.  I think I may have even heard him play Unrest on a previous show, but he plays good music all the time so it's easy to not be as flummoxed.  At any rate, Tom slowly bumped Mark Robinson into the middle as nobody commented on his status as a top player.  I could detect Tom's unsettled feelings about putting Mark Robinson in the middle territory.
Ironically, a few weeks later, he played an Unrest song at the beginning of a show.  Since then, I think I've heard Unrest played or mentioned on 3 or 4 separate shows...and now this!

as a kid, i lived on episodes of 120 minutes; Unrest (amongst others) became a band that i loved as a kid, but didn't enjoy to the fullest extent til i was a teenager.  as an adult, i am nostalgic for 90's rock and more than a little bummed that i missed out on an entire era.
