I went kayaking for an hour on the local man-made lake out by the airport.  Pretty good upper-body workout, and it's on the water and gives you stuff to look at.  I saw a heron.  It got mad and left.

Not good for playing golf the next day - not so much sore as just out of sorts, from an arm-muscle perspective.

No, my presence made the heron enraged.  It gave me the business as it flew away.

Heroin usually chills people out.

I shot up to 195 lbs. Too much beer...better switch to the hard stuff.

Ok, so in my town they started renting out bikes- you pay 5 bucks a day to get the bike from dawn to dark, or you can pay 25 bucks for a yearly pass and get the bike whenever you want (the dawn to dark rule still applies though). I went ahead and bought a yearly pass since it was such a good deal, and I rode the bike down by the river.
I have found that I like this way more than running! It is refreshing being outside and by the river, and it's way more fun. My booty gets sore from the bicycle seat, though.
I always feel like riding the bike all day everywhere, whereas running I am pretty much tired of it 15 minutes in.
But I am going to try to alternate running/biking.
I am on a roll!

Yes, that was a pun.

That sounds great! I want a bike. I might get one the next time I buy something. I used to go ride at a long bike path by a river and there was a smoking, beer drinking, grape soda loving chimpanzee along the way. Poor guy had to give up his vices because of animal rights. He used to go ape-shit whenever anyone went to the soda machine.

Sometimes I want to eat cake. I was looking at cake when I saw that Weight Watchers had little snack cakes. I thought they might be good.

The size is laughable. It's as big as a fun size Kit Kat. But not as fun.

That's probably part of that '100 calorie snack' fad that's sweeping (swept?) the nation.

They were giving 'em out on the street in Chicago last time I was there.

Keith, you're better off just eating a real piece of cake and then balancing that by eating salad the next day for lunch or something. Like, I just had a big fat carb-loaded bagel this morning, but I'll eat something light like veggie soup for lunch. And I'm going out for a big mexican meal later (still will try to do my best not to slather everything in cheese and sour cream and rice) but will eat really light for most of Saturday to balance it out.

In other news, my belly is almost gone and my shorts are too big. I've lost like 8lbs so far and have 7 to go to hit target weight. And the diet isn't making me crazy. According to the website I use, I'm losing an average of .8lbs every week. My fiance, however, is losing 1-3lbs every week. But he's a bigger dude and has a lot more to lose than I do, so I think that makes the difference.

That, and men lose weight SO much more easily than the ladies. Bastards.

I got sushi for lunch yesterday thinking that was pretty healthy.  It's weird how filling it can be.  And one of the rolls had shrimp tempura in it and these things were rolled in white rice so I'm filing sushi lunch in the "you think it's going to be good for you but it's not" file.
They built a bike trail that goes all the way from the bad ass library to the new movie theater.  So I'm trying to hit that up.

I eat Sushi at least twice a week now. Seaweed salad is also really low calorie and satisfyingly tasty!

I like the seaweed salad a lot.  It feels like I'm eating something so nourishing.  I think just the sheer quantity of sushi that I eat in one sitting is one makes it unhealthy.  I have portion control issues.  Do you ever drink Kombuchu tea?  It will blow your mind.

i opted for sashimi instead yesterday and it worked out better in the long run than if i had fallen for my love of sushi.  i also happened to read an article when i returned from lunch that sashimi was, in fact, the way to go, carb-wise.

im going to take M.O.M. to the gym tonite, continuing the road to recovery!

I have been eating only fruits, vegetables, and nuts for lunch this week.  No salad dressing, carbs, etc. It leaves me hungry as hell by dinner but I feel pretty good.
