I rode 16 miles on my bike today, a new personal record.  Yesterday was 12.  I sure hope I keep this up!

How is everyone else doing?

I bought a new bike for my birthday in December and have been riding it whenever I can. I ride to work when I know I don't have to be anywhere else. (Don't be that impressed. It's only about a mile.) Then I try for about a twenty mile ride on the weekends. I also bought a commuter bike for my wife and she has been riding to work whenever she can. She also ran her first marathon last fall which was awesome. Is was a hilly mo' fo' in San Francisco too. VERY proud of her for that one.

I lost two pounds. Joy.

Yes yes I know this means nothing because of normal weight fluctuations, but I don't care.

Though I haven't buckled down to exercise yet, I've still been cleaning the hell out of my diet and am still on this track of fitness. I just personally let this thread slide, which is bad! But I'm back.

In my researches of how to make this a group effort thing, I sought out the advice of semi-professionals. What they said we could do is make this a weekly check in thread, posting weights and progresses and failures alike. It's not really the game show I had hoped for, but I still think that's a great idea. I propose that we start this tighter form of accountability now, beginning with next Tuesday (picking that day for obvious reasons). Post your weight, post a picture if you like, post whatever stats you think are relevant, because the charting starts now. I encourage anyone and everyone to join me!

For those who like to rock (trashily) here's an mp3 of my Songs To Kick Ass To "podcast".  It'll get your heartrate up and you'll glare at everyone else in the gym like you're going to kill them. Sound levels jump around a little (be especially aware that Trouble's Gonna Stay A While & Uptight Tonight are quite loud), but here's the link:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/kga7ih

Here's the tracklist:
1) VENI VIDI VICI -The Black Lips 2) TRASH - The Cripplers 3) DON'T LOOK AT ME WHEN I'M LOOKIN' AT YOU - The Revelators 4) HIPSVILLE 29 BC - The Cramps 5) TROUBLE'S GONNA STAY AWHILE - The Deadly Snakes 6) UPTIGHT TONIGHT - Flash & The Casuals 7) ODE TO A BLACK MAN - The Dirtbombs 8 ) THAT BLOWS - Von Zippers 9) BEAT ON THE BRAT - Thee Mighty Caesars 10) I SEE YOU, BABY - The Screws 11) RUNNIN SHINE - Zeke 12) TIRED OF YOU SICK OF ME - Scared of Chaka 13) SWING - Bloody Hollies 14) NO LOVE LOST - Joy Division 15) SOOPRIZE PACKAGE FOR MR. MINEO - The Mummies 16) ANTI-SATISFACTION - The Drags 17) I DON'T FEEL SO GOOD - Volt 18) NO REASON TO LIVE - OBLIVIANS 19) I'M INSANE - T-Model Ford

PS-Baron, do you have the Revelators "We Told You Not To Cross Us" on Crypt.  It's essential. One of the best records Crypt ever put out. And that's uh-sayin' something. Great for the gym, too.

Thank you, hugman, for this mix and for hipping me to that Revelators album, which is the most rockin' thing I've discovered in ages.   Are their other albums this good?

You are welcome.  That's their only album. There's another (crappy, I'm assuming) Revelators (maybe more) out there that often get lumped together with them on amazon, etc.  They formed to open for the Oblivians (a show I was fucking AT and for the weirdest reason, I literally don't remember a second of that show. I wasn't wasted either.  I must have been raped or something), they put out that awesome record, they did a European tour and a dismal southeast US tour, the drummer quit, they recorded a second record with Bill Randt from New Bomb Turks on drums. It is called Let A Poor Boy Ride and Tim Warren has been sitting on it ever since (12 years or so now. I should really get over it, especially since I've talked to Jeremiah about it and he says it's just okay).  And that's the history of The Revelators.  Now, go work out!

edit: Oh yea, they have two 7 inchers out there also that are worth getting if you're into 7 inchers. One on Sympathy and one on Crypt.

Wow. Oof. OK, if you've spent the last six cold-ass months mostly inactive save some walking and you want to finally celebrate getting weather that's nice enough to ride your bike in, don't do what I did and go out on an eight-plus-mile round trip. I had to lie down and think happy not-passing-out thoughts for about ten minutes after mile 5.

(I'm 5'10" and have been hovering between 185 and 190 for a while; it's not terrible but I could stand to be somewhat less doughy.)

Thanks for the histroy (or the revelation, if you will).  Those other Revelators out there did confuse me.

(ive enjoyed the 7" on crypt, personally.)

while this may be the time of year for the rest of you to get out and get active, this is the time of year phoenix becomes hottuh...and hottuh...and hottuh.  we already reached our triple digit inauguration for 2009 last week.  luckily, the nites are still cool, but not for long.  this means i will loathe getting into my scorching hot car which will remain stifling (resemlbing an oven) until the A/C can finally blast cold air right about the time i arrive at the gym.  i hate you, desert life.

alright, people, this is the year i splash cold water on my face and get hungry.

Two raccoons passed in front of me when I was running this morning--crossing the road, instead of hiding or scurrying under stuff like they normally do.

They look like tiny bears.  So this is another advantage to working out: seeing tiny bears.

Ok I'm game. 5'1 and 137 (Started at 142 three weeks ago)

Here is a picture of me (not the blonde, obviously) feeling a bit chubby. All I want is for my old clothes to fit better. I'm cheap. Goal is 125 lbs.

Fuck if I'm gonna be the only person to post a picture of their fat ass on here.

I'm down about 10 pounds.

6'3"- 250 down to 240.

It's amazing what 4 miles a night and eating right will do.  I'll hit a nasty plateau soon, get frustrated and put it right back on.
Breakfast- I'm havin' a time
Wheelies- I'm havin' a time
Headlocks- I'm havin' a time
Drunk Tank- not so much a time
George St.- I'm havin' a time
Brenda- I'm havin' a time
Bingo- I'm havin' a time
House Arrest- I'm still havin' a time
