warning: bragging

I ran around an entire lake last Sunday. Well, I had to run/walk/run for the second half. It was about 7.5 miles and I'm not in shape or anything. I'm still sore but I hope to do a repeat performance this weekend.

Wow if you ran that far, it sounds like you're in pretty good shape to me!

It was nice to reach the halfway point and decide to just keep going. It was a Forrest Gump moment.

And as we all know you can't go around the lake, you have to go through it. wait.

I am considering giving "Couch to 5k" another try. My first attempt failed after a couple weeks. It was the dead of winter though, maybe nice weather will help.

Yeah, do it! I more or less followed one of those plans -- very loosely, though. I had to experiment w/MPH on the treadmill. If you're doing it outside, do you go with a stopwatch to do the run 2 minutes, walk 1 minute stuff?

Auntie C,

I was using my phone until I came up with this brilliant idea:

I made a 40 minute playlist, imported it into Garage Band, then inserted my voice-over saying "Run" and "walk" at the appropriate times. That way I only had to carry my ipod, and not worry about timing!

Then I can just change the playlist and leave the voice-overs where they are, or change their placement as I progress through the plan.

I just didn't like timing it because I would constantly be checking the time and 2 minutes felt like forever. And I don't own a programmable stopwatch.

im a gym snob.  i use the timer on the elliptical or the treadmill- 2 minutes still feels like forever.  nonetheless, im not a runner, but i think im going to start a new workout regime.

this couch to 5k plan seems easy enough.

One big problem I was able to catch b/c of the treadmill -- I was starting out too fast. When I dropped the MPH down, I started improving on running longer and getting rid of the walking intervals. I only dropped it like .5 -.7 MPH and the difference was really huge.

how's everyone's bellies doing?

I went surfing yesterday for the first time since I busted my elbow.
I still can't really lift weights.
But I'm trying.
Bye.

get out of my brain, hugman!  i was going to send you a text message yesterday asking about your elbow.  for whatever reason, i was walking up to my door and your elbow injury entered my brain.

anyway, im doing great.  i decided yesterday morning on the elliptical machine that i needed to add an extra mile to my workout.  what used to take me twice as long now only takes half as long; that's how its been for the last 2 weeks.  ive got to step it up.

my belly though...still fat, but not as fat, so i feel better every day when i look in the mirror.  im on my way to feeling my best.

Here's how pathetic (and poor) I am: I've been saving money this summer so I can afford to buy a membership at my nearest gym. I'm... looking forward to it?

My belly is cute and much smaller. I started at 142 and I weigh 132 now. I'd like to lose 5 more. (I'm short)

I just learned that one appears bigger than one actually is from the aerial perspective the body is usually viewed from i.e. from the eyes looking downward. I didn't know that!

Bye.

I've been having some arm/shoulder pain that's made running difficult. I've seen some minor gains through cutting back on fast food/pop, but I could do more.

If anyone wants to get into good shape, I recommend becoming a farmer and eating only vegetables, fruit, and meat you harvest for yourself.  Worked for me!
