I'm an assistant language teacher at a Jr. high here in Japan and I've been given the *cough* honor *cough* of choosing the music that plays during lunch time. I think It's 15min long. Now I've chosen tracks from some of my favorite artists, but I've also tried to make it as international as possible. My job is to help teach English, but also introduce foreign cultures to the students. Besides that I've tried to keep it lunch time friendly and energetic so the students might get interested in the songs. This means no cussing and no songs about bad stuff. Even if the students can't understand it. It's an ethical thing for me. So here's my playlist:
1. Me and Mia - Mr. Ted Leo and the Rx
2. Yelben Betayiw - Alemayehu Eshete (from Ethiopiques 9)
3. Thanks-A-Lot - Dengue Fever
4. Divine Hammer - The Breeders
Now if the set is 15 min long I still have 5 min left at the end of these 4 songs. Here's what I'm thinking of playing for the last song.
Monkberry Moon Delight - Danielson
31 today - Aimee Mann
Long Division - The Aislers Set (from San Francisco, a bit Imperial Teen like.)
Take the Skinheads Bowling - Camper Van Beethoven
Don't You Care - Alice Clark (This is a from a Japan only re-issue of a '70s soul singer I randomly bought.)
All of my days and all of my days off - A.C. Newman (Or a different A.C. Newman/New Pornographers song.)
So I'm looking for help.
Are the first 4 songs good?
What should the 5th song be?
Thanks!
