Mr. Whitener,
With all due respect, I think you should vote even if you can't, understandably, bring yourself to vote for Corzine or Christie.  There are plenty of third-party governor candidates -- voting for one of them counts as more of a protest against the major parties than simply not voting.  Furthermore, I assume there are other slots being decided in your county. Plus there's a state-wide yes-no vote on a bond issuance to preserve wetlands/open-space.

The big third party candidate is Daggett. He doesn't look good either! I will look at some of the other ones.

This doesn't seem right to me because what's implicit in your vote is an affirmation of Corzine in spite of him not doing a good job.

I have looked at the independents. They do not look good to me. Perhaps a write in vote for Corey Booker?

I am unaware of the other hibbity on the ballot, so I will report back tomorrow.

As an aside, I find the idea of education reform with no discussion of pedagogy fascinating in a, "WHAT?!" sort of way.

There were times when I used to not vote, but now I always do, basically for the 3rd party candidate that seems the least looney tunes. I take the long view - I've had it with the two party system and figure that eventually something good will emerge that will crack it...

Wanted to share this comment from a news article:
The picture in this story says it all. Corzine with a group of students with not a white student in sight. Jonnie will play Robin Hood if reelected. The middle and upper income families will pay more taxes that he'll waste on giveaway programs accomplishing nothing. The story also comments that 60% of kids in a school qualify for "free" lunches. Maybe it's free to them, but us taxpayers are paying for the lunches. And these "free" lunches create a mindset in these kids that as they get older, the Government will provide more "freebies" such as food stamps, free housing, free health care, 2 years of unemployment so you don't nee to work, etc. Not the correct mindset for a productive USA or NJ.

Blargh, I just found out that the next governor is going to be appointing supreme court judges for the state. Voting for Corzine would feel like such a compromise of my values.
