Now I feel like a McDonald's FIFA World Cup Fantasy-dummy! I had no idea that the FF turned into an elimination round after the group stages... I just thought it would be league play til the end - highest points win - and now it turns out I've been unknowingly crushing the opposition in both the last 16 and the quarters. Sorry for my ignorance, everybody. Now I feel like I've been missing out on some exciting drama.

Oh, and Gilly, you're going DOWN.

Let's not talk about it. It's still burns me that I got the second-highest score in the elimination rounds during the quarters but got knocked out because Wes squeezed out 4 more points (well played Wes). I am obviously devoting FAR TOO MUCH TIME to this endeavor and need to reexamine life choices.

Wow, I didn't know it was an elimination tournament either.  But apparently I barely eked out a victory against BPH to make it to the semis.  You're next, Wes!

Wes vs. Martin in the real final.

How's everyone betting?

(Also, Spain will face Holland in some secondary contest.)

An American v. a European in football? Is this even a serious question?

Pulling for the Dutch, thinking Spain. Anyhow, it will be nice for a new country to take the top prize.

Not just an American. The American.
This may be the year I will disappear.

I am the Al Gore in this situation, denied by technicalities. So I will dispute this and go get an Oscar and a Nobel Prize. Enjoy your little game.

Agreed. Especially not me. I did not curse at the top of my lungs when I got home last night about finishing second.

I don't want to call myself a hero...so if somebody else wants to go ahead and do that, I would appreciate it.

You're a hero.

I enjoyed following the tournament and perhaps now, I will continue to follow the sport, year round.  I have tried before and failed, in essence by being overwhelmed with info.  Is there an easy way to keep up with the relevant events of the sport, i.e. an essential podcast, a website with good 'general' articles/updates ??
It has also been suggested that it is best simply to pick an English Premier League team and follow them.

Martin and I enjoy the twice-weekly podcast from the Guardian. Hope you like puns.

Does it involve Andy Zaltzman?
