Meek's Cutoff looks promising. I'm a big fan of Reichardt.

That does look really interesting. A lot of great actors. Plus, I'm a sucker for modern Westerns like that.

Too many bonnets.  I'm gonna have to pass on Meek's!

I'm excited but after I saw True Grit I determined that I was kind of tired of that old western, dirty film style. The Proposition, Jesse James, There Will Be Blood, 3:10 to Yuma all come to mind. However, Old Joy and Wendy and Lucy were among my favorite films for their respected years. Plus, even though I feel like that style is worn out, I am always impressed and like/love the films.

From what I've heard, it was shot this way because Reichardt wanted a tighter frame, as opposed to wide-open western landscapes.

I don't often concern myself with movie ratings, but that really does not look to be a PG film.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

Interesting. Reminds me of Fish Tank - Andrea Arnold wanted a 4:3 frame on that aswell, supposedly to create more of a locked up feel to it.

I'll watch it when it comes my way, although I'm a little a-scared to, what with the Village Voice's Karina Longworth saying the movie involves "literal life-and-death stakes" and all.

Addendum:  Just read your earlier nice remark, IABVT.  Thank you.

Honestly why do I keep watching this man's films? Why did I even start? I will probably go see this.

Mysterious Skin - Smiley Face - Kaboom is certainly Araki's best run.  I can't say I liked any of his previous stuff, although they are intriguing artifacts of a certain strain of American indie films of a certain time.

Yeah Mysterious Skin was a really good film. Smiley face, I got through like 5 minutes. Anna Faris is just too rmuch for me. I think I saw it was on Instant. Does it get better?

No, Smiley Face was pretty terrible.
