Are you doing this as a Jane Goodall-type investigation to get a feel for internet subcultures? Or just to mock these people? Because if the latter, that's pretty shitty.
No. Jane Goodall-type all the way. I like seeing these worlds and trying to become part of them. I've got no problem with roleplaying (and have been known to roll a few 12-sided myself through the years). But I just like how specific this is. It isn't just about roleplaying animals. It's roleplaying foxes.
I understand being interested in something that peculiar. I have really specific, kind of random interests. But that next step is what I love. I'm just really curious as to what the genesis of this idea is and how many other people want to take part.
From what I've read, most of the stories on there so far are sweet love stories between foxes. It's kind of twee, in a way.
Other message boards I've unearthed and loved:
1)
www.modernbutlers.com -- a message board about, for and by people employed as butlers.
2) Some LiveJournal of people who write saucy fan fiction about Nan Britton, the teenage mistress of President Warren G. Harding.
3) The multitude of fan fiction pages dedicated to Steve Perry and the other members of Journey.
