hang in until @3:20 for some real awesome

That's real awesome from 0:00, but it is a fun visual effect in the second song. I remember seeing this when it first aired. I wonder who the band members were? Was that Earl Slick? And that bass player, despite the occasional disco-y lick that was popular in the day, is fantastic.

it's an odd period in bowie history, 1979, after lodger but before scary monsters. he wasn't touring in this period (from 1979-1983) so this band was hired for this appearance or a set of appearances or something. thus it might not even be his regular players like earl slick.

i do know that his backup singers are joey arias and cult icon klaus nomi though

Isn't that Carlos Alomar on guitar, and there's no reason why it couldn't be George Murray on bass?  I dunno, it sounds like the band that played on Station to Station to me, slightly different arrangement.

sure why not

I don't know if I'm ready to call it my favorite YLT album yet, but it's been growing on me.

I'm trying to learn "Songs About UFOs" by Husker Dude. I have to listen to it over and over again because it has a strange off-rhythm to Grant Hart's singing. Also listening to it over and over again because I like the song.

Exactly! It's YLT's Wild Life.

i think it has to do with the title, which i guess might be ironic. if anything it's a night time listen

I wasn't that big a fan of SUMMER SUN when it came out; it seemed like AND THEN NOTHING TURNED ITSELF INSIDE OUT, Pt. 2, but without the catharsis of a "Cherry Chapstick" to liven things up. I like the record now - it's great nightime/wintertime listening. It still wouldn't make my top 5 YLT albums, though.

I think ELECTR-O-PURA is the best.

I'm partial to Painful.

I'm going to go back and listen to Summer Sun again now because of this thread.

Ladies at the office talking about Julie and Julia and the "salad bar at Ryan's." The salad bar is "just good ol' food," apparently.
