I'm listening to a bootleg of the Rolling Stones at Altamont. The strange thing is that after the killing of Meredith Hunter (which took place at the end of "Under My Thumb" and doesn't register on the audiotape at all), the performance takes off into the fucking stratosphere and is maybe the most incredible Stones concert I've ever heard, and I've heard a few.

I'm not sure if this occurred after the murder, but their performance of "Sympathy for the Devil" at Altamont is phenomenal.
Ever do nothing and gain nothing from it?
Ever feel stupid and then know that you really are?
Ever think you're smart and then find out you aren't?
Ever play the fool and then find out that you're worse?

Actually, I can tell you that "Sympathy for the Devil" came before the murder. After it (and to repeat, there is no reason to believe the Stones knew about it at the time) the setlist went:

Brown Sugar/ Midnight Rambler (!)/ Live With Me/ Gimme Shelter/ Little Queenie/ Satisfaction/ Honky Tonk Women/ Street Fighting Man

--each more incredible than the last. Greil Marcus (who was there) hypothesizes that on some unconscious, telepathic level, they agreed that to get out of there alive they just had to be so fucking great that when they left the stage, everyone would just...Move Back.

I'm really not sure what to make of this one. It's an interesting listen though.

aka 'Now That's What I Call Krautrock!'

This is one of few things I play in the car that my 9 year old daughter likes. She finds it 'interesting'.

Fans of Negativland and Frederick's Mind thing might enjoy this Steve Fisk comp:

Yes, we all heard plenty of preachers sampled out of context in the 80s, but the preacher passionately reciting the lyrics to Queen's 'Get Down, Make Love' in the middle of 'Topeka Hello' is perhaps the finest use of this technique.

Holds up.
Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.
