The rich get richer, and the poor get the picture.

MIDNIGHT OIL - (Live) - 11 Apr 1984 - «Thicke of the night» Los Angeles, CA (USA)

I was not expecting, as you might expect, the unexpected racist moment at around 4:45 from our now-Minister for Education. I guess 1984 was a different time.

I liked the film adaptation of 'The General' commercials talk.

BTW, there's a commercial out there that makes The General look like the work of Pixar (not Pixart):

JRfan OSC: Blue Tax, a commercial shown.... NATIONALLY?! Wha?!!

I'm in mourning for the bankruptcy of Patrick R. Cox, the Tax Master(s).

I love when the National Weather Service compuvoice has to say "fog." I'm pretty sure it's an FCC violation.

Nearly one full week late, I'm suggesting Stacy Keach for "The General."

Toms "colorful" future, particularly the bit where he demands his live audiences whip wet fudge (that he provided) at "the drummer from super chunk"

An epic show worthy of being #500! You can't top the Best Show!

This quote from Tom sums up the episode pretty well: "It's touching, isn't it ... not the kind of "touching" you like, Mike"  ;D

From the clueless terrible calls up front to the summer blockbuster of a JW call, this one was worthy of 500.

Question: Has Tom ever mentioned Jon by name during the show before?

Best moment: The hours 9 to 12PM

Worst?: None. Even that guy at the beginning was great. It wouldn't be the Best Show without a guy like him.

Jason: Not on this show (I think), but he does on the Gems podcast.

I think he has on the Pledge Drives and maybe once or twice before, but it's a rare thing.

This episode was incredible.

I do hope LDP will grace us with his poem next week.
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

So many good things about the show, but the call from Charles was one of the greatest things ever. That call was atypically moving and classic, relative to the normally hilarious and brilliant Newbridge calls.

Anyone know what the record is for JW's longest call?

Anyone know what the record is for JW's longest call?

Now this is a very interesting question.  Does it have to be a single dial, or can it be multiple calls as the same character within the same show?  Do in-studio appearances count?

Here are some long ones:

- 58 minutes plus - Tony Torgvort, Author of the System
- 57 minutes plus - Conventions, Inc (and the only available recording cuts off before the end)
- 54 minutes plus - Philly Boy Roy talks Philly Films
- 54 minutes plus - Ty Clark from Black Tyger
- 52 minutes plus - Zachary Brimstead's First Call
- 51 minutes plus - Mother 13 Plays Mount Everest, Part 2

Tom has mentioned Jon at least during one marathon show I heard. It's kind of a touching display of loyalty, he'll have well known comedians there with him and he'll say 'thanks to Jon Wurster, the funniest, most talented guy I know' and then for example Hodgman will feign offense...

I remember one time when Tom(and a guest, I can't remember who it was) mentioned that the Mountain Goats( I think they also mentioned  Jon) were playing on Fallon that night.
