I can't believe I actually stayed in the chat for the entire six hours. I'm pathetic.

you and me both, pal.

this was one of the finest experiences in recent memory.  At points, I was pounding my fists on the table in laughter.  ("he wears a suit, he calls guys cute, it's paul! f! tompkins!")

I still can't believe I got to talk to Julie on the phone.

I liked larry's idea for a radio mystery animated thing with mystical characters.  Radio and animation sound like a great combination.
Sounds like someone was working as a conduit for nature's natural vengeance.  Just like Jesus.  And some of the others.

I like it. We could have a new phrase: 'He has a face for radio animation'.

Larry's call was a highlight, but I think my favorite was Mike's laughter when they were A/B-ing the Best Show and Mike Show theme songs.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

After doing research of her on IMDb Plain, I found out that she is married to the guy that was the music geek on the "Beat the Geeks" game show on Comedy Central, which at one time was hosted by Blaine Capatch, who broke into the comedy biz with...Patton Oswalt. Coincidence? You be the judge!

Oh snap, that was a freakin awesome show! I camped out the entire time in front of my computer with a 12er of Heineken, a foot long Subway 5 dollar Meatball and Swiss (somehow I knew Julie would do sandwiches), and logs in the fireplace for the occasion.

All the guests were on fire. Hodgeman was brilliant. The FMU girls kept the funny fresh. Julie knocked it outa the park right off the bat. James in-studio and unable to look Tom in the eyes had me rolling on the floor. Did he really have to lay down before his turn to be on? LOL

Mike's theme really did rock. I loved it when they played it and then immediately played Tom's theme. It was like playing Crue's Looks That Kill then queuing up Madonna's Borderline or something. [Tom's theme is still cool though]. I want one of those Sam Peckinpah action figure sets. Mike never said if it includes Warren Oates or Steve McQueen though. Sign me up.

Another one in the books deh Tom.

Sure, it's only been 12 hours or so, but I can't help but wonder what Mike did with his disturbing "gift". Is it up on a shelf? Is it in a special box labeled, "For Larry"?

I put it in the fridge. The letter said it was it was a "yogurt-like" substance. I will probably never eat it. If that's Japan's answer to the "fun pack," then they've got a long way to go.

See God, Kai

Finished listening today... That closing stretch felt like watching the sun come up after making yourself stay up all night - and as someone perpetually up too late, I mean that as a compliment!

Also - TWO calls from Larry the Perv? Perv-fect!

I just re-listened to the second Best Show of this year's WFMU Marathon and Paul F Tompkins says that when The Best Show ends, he always feels like he could listen for three more hours.  Holey moley was he right.  It was incredible how quickly and easily those 6 hours went by.  Great job Tom and all the other wonderful guests and callers on this truly amazing show.
