Is there a point were Tom stops taking calls from guys?

I think we're at that point now. For at least a month.

Kristen Schaal cursed a little and not too much and the world did not end!

Tim Heidecker slipped out an Ess-Hit too a few weeks ago.  I'm wondering if this is some special demand on AP Mike's part.

Yo, Fredericks, forgot your email and trying to reach you. I can't send outgoing emails on this thing but I seem to get them. Email me your add!

I agree, the "Thank You" was such a great moment.  The kind of moment that would only squeak through in years past, but had so much more weight in the light of all the rough stuff Tom and his family have been going through the past couple of months.  I know Tom has lamented that he has no Best Show, but I hope there were a couple rays of healing in that muted mic, stifled chuckle exchange.  I can't imagine there weren't.  PBR was the perfect call.  If that was the last episode, it would be a perfect Best Friends/Bookends type of serendipity.  That was a shoot to end work.

As for all the terrible calls, I guess that what happens when carpetbaggers or new blood come in and think that the show is a platform for them. And for them to workshop their b.s or get a few calls before they shine.  Its not a new thing among the FOT.  You find the show, you want to participate regardless of what you have to offer is good or not.  I've done it, and flamed out fantastically.  To this day I hold myself partially responsible for the Autumn Hiatus in 2010.  The only great call was FONPR, in a state of unhinged-ment that I've never heard from him before.  If that call happened an hour later it would have been a classic.  I think Tom was anticipating the Kristen Schaal call, coupled with Fredericks dealing in dark subjects.

The second best moment of the night was Tom expressing his desire/lament to voice a character on Bob's Burgers.  I don't know if Tom really wants it anymore, but I hope it happens.  Its such an oversight it makes me thing that its not happened because everyone involved thinks that Tom is too busy or doesn't really care.

Also Kristen Schaal said dildo, while checking herself on some F-bombs. That has to be a Best Show first.

Also Also, Tom making fun of Willamsburg rubes is one of my favorite things. What a F.W.D.

Sorry for the long post FOT.  It just seems like a milestone in the history of the Best SHow.  With the live shows and everything, its a very exciting time.

I love whenever they bring up the "Attention teachers and students" bit from SNL, it never fails to boggle my mind that it made it out of the writers room nevermind on air and into multiple skits.
I had never heard of that bit until this thread, so I looked it up last night. This is the clip I found (featuring Josh Brolin). Wow. Shudderfest.

Who exactly is the average Best Show fan and how do they sound?  I'm guessing a major proportion sound like those dudes.  Yes, it got a bit tiring - but it let Tom put on his dancing shoes and tap all over their mugs which does not get tiring to listen to.

I've never called in myself and maybe I just worry that I, good guy and decent conversationalist, might end up sounding a snooze under the pressure of calling in.

Finally, is there anyone who thinks (as I do) that some of these snoozes are actually trying to get Bad Companied?  When you set up a bit as funny as the Bad Company fade out, you have to believe some callers are going to try and provoke it (by being completely un-provoking).

1. Absolutely agree. I don't care when the callers are boring; Tom turns garbage into gold.

2. While I'm a concise talker by nature (I've never been accused of taking the "scenic route"), I've also never had any topic/story I felt would result in a call that _I_ would want to listen to, so I agree that being a quality caller's not the easiest thing in the world. There's a very short list of Best Show regulars who nail it nearly every time.

3. I don't remember ever thinking that a boring caller was TRYING to get BCed. Probably because I just personally know so many people who talk like that in their daily lives; there are just waaaay too many people who really don't know how to gettothedamnpointfercrissakes, and radio only highlights it. Of course a lot of bad callers sound baked, so there's that. EDIT: Exception that tests the rule: Michael K? Not sure if he exactly qualifies as a snooze though.

There was a guy who called last week that I'm pretty sure was deliberately trying to get Bad Company'ed. There was a tension to his voice that belied his intentions imo.

Tom Scharpling and John Hodgeman in studio together. Better than masturbation.

I know I hyperbolize about The Best Show often here, but tonight's episode was one of the Top 5 -- maybe Top 3 -- Best Shows I've heard... and that's based on more than 5 years of Best Show.

John Oliver, Bryce, Kristina's call, all the terrible calls that got quickly plowed and Tom's reaction to them, someone claiming to be The Canadian Glenn Beck now grown up but not sure it is really him, Jefferton barely making it, Jason's 15 minute rule, Fred's respect story.. everyone that stepped up really stepped up!   Tom really sounded really excited and happy tonight.. It was a great synergy all 'round tonight, and a HUGE variety.

All well summed up above, but just a terrific Best Show. The John Oliver call, et al. So good.

I don't like it, I don't want it, I don't need it.

Highlights for me this week include the surge of women callers in the back half of the show, the return of Gary, Dave from Knoxville, and Bryce with another bawdy BeeGees tune. Also, the WHEEL! OF! CRYSTAL! I'm more than okay with that replacing the Under the Dome trading card reveal each show.
Wailin' the eff outta that vibraslap!
