Now it can be told! Why I was fixated on Anne Murray (and Roger Whitaker) for a few weeks. Amateur musicologist report starts here

Wow, Dave! I'm amazed.  You weren't kidding about being OCD.

Yeah, not having things in order makes it horrible pain in the ass to find what I want. My wife just built some new record shelves and now I can find everything right away. Check it out:

Hey, MOS, could you tell me your street address?  Also, when are both you and your wife away from work?

Is there a U-Haul rental place in your town?

Seriously, I'm on board the digital train to futureville, but man I wish I had a cool-looking vinyl room.

You'd probably be less enthusiastic about hauling those away when you got a look at some of the titles, but I agree that it does look cool.
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

currently, i dont have proper shelves to put my records, so they lay unalphabetical, if anything.  but once upon a time, i did have them set in (various) order.  it helps when i want to look for something.  there is a less likely chance that i'll skip/miss it.

note: Julie, i know im not Dave- i apologize to you both for stepping on his toes.

No, I appreciate your help. So it's for finding things? Do you think you would forget you had things, too?

i dont forget i have albums really; there are times when i dont know what i'm in the mood for so i browse, and that's when i forget i have an album that would be perfect for my mood (which is usually settled because i saw something else first).  the order of my collection switches with what i feel like doing at the time; not all of my organization attempts have been successful.

im usually the laziest about putting the new, recently acquired albums i buy into the shelves.  they normally lay about the house like coasters, staying wherever i left them when i was reading the liner notes/lyrics.

Thanks!

There's a follow-up; I got a comment puzzled about the fact that Jack Bruce as a solo artist is ranked above Led Zeppelin. It reads a little funny, because a table melted down on me and I haven't had time to fix it yet, but here's the result of a special investigation

Thank you, todbot, I don't post frequently, but it's quality over quantity, right?
