I tried looking up "phil collins thong" in Google Images and got a lot of horrible, horrible things...none of them addressing Pat K's post.

I remember a long time ago they posted a clip on Beware of the Blog of Genesis playing on an old TV show, and at the end of the song Phil Collins does a bunch of crazy stage moves and leans over and you can see he’s wearing a thong. It was pretty funny. Did anybody else ever see that?

I keep hoping Raad_Man will chime in on this thread.

 You're probably thinking of this:

 It's actually Peter Gabriel.

DFK, can you explain the importance of cataloguing your music? I am not trying to argue, I just don't understand it at all. I think my husband gets really irritated that I'm such a slob about it. He photographs his LP covers and sometimes spends a whole day organizing his records. I am tempted to reorganize them sometimes, but that would really be cruel. It would be as bad for him as if a stranger kicked my dog.

currently, i dont have proper shelves to put my records, so they lay unalphabetical, if anything.  but once upon a time, i did have them set in (various) order.  it helps when i want to look for something.  there is a less likely chance that i'll skip/miss it.

note: Julie, i know im not Dave- i apologize to you both for stepping on his toes.

Ah, that's it! As you can see, I know a ton about Phil Collins.

Still, I got someone to google "phil collins thong". I'm prouder of that than I should be.

Now I'm imagining Julie's husband as Todd Louiso (Dick) from High Fidelity.

Yeah, not having things in order makes it horrible pain in the ass to find what I want. My wife just built some new record shelves and now I can find everything right away. Check it out:

She also framed my Best Show poster. Did I mention she's great?

(Oh, and I second Baron's apology for stepping on toes)
I'll probably go into the wee hours.

I did it/am doing it to satisfy homeowner's insurance requests. But I am also fond of being able to find stuff, and I am ADHD/OCD.

I have all my records documented (not super in-depth- I gave up on pressing numbers, etc. pretty quickly) but my CDs and DVDs are just (mostly) alphabetized for my own convenience.

Oh, good heavens. I didn’t realize. I send my condolences out to the rest of the O’Connor family.

Now it can be told! Why I was fixated on Anne Murray (and Roger Whitaker) for a few weeks. Amateur musicologist report starts here

Phil Collins is semi-featured on this week's "This American Life" podcast -- The Break Up.  He graciously talks to a girl who is trying to get over being dumped, and comments on the song she has written about it.  The girl seeks him out because she and her -ex used to sing Phil Collins' songs together.  Phil talks about how his wife leaving him led him out of his jazz-rock thing to writing "Against All Odds," for his first solo album.

Hey, MOS, could you tell me your street address?  Also, when are both you and your wife away from work?

Is there a U-Haul rental place in your town?

Seriously, I'm on board the digital train to futureville, but man I wish I had a cool-looking vinyl room.
